I did some offroading with my Disco3 without real damage up to this point. (Only the heat shields between the exhaust pipes and the spare wheel are gone and I have some scratches at the bottom sides left and right).
This made me think: if the car is laying on its belly, the full 2,7 tonnes are laying on the exhoust pipes. Are they really strong enough to hold this? Also, if you drive over a rocky track, the exhaust pipes will slide over the ground (as will some other parts).
I was wondering what you guys to to protect the bottom part of the vehicle? I'm interested in all front, back and center protection. Would I need diff guards? I found some Disco3/LR3 stuff here http://www.landroverparts.us/landroverparts/LR3skidPlates.htm . Other links are welcome.
And to proect the bottom sides, what is the best? The LR Stainless Steel Tube , Black Protection Tube or the Side steps? Or do other suppliers have better protection?
Thanks,
Klaas
