Check engine bay fuse box, LINK 11E (30 Amp) and passenger compartment fuse box, Fuse 60 (5 Amp)

I presume you're not getting error messages in the instrument pack LCD, and is the alarm LED acting normally?

Just posted this on the, bbs site. It might be worth writing back to the car the last known working files again in case something was not written back correctly.

I had the exact same result, updating the ccf. However the cause was quite different Am very new to the faultmate and to be honest was being a bit dumb. The car side led was still flashing for ages on the FM, even though the pc side had stopped and the Vehicle server software seemed to have completed. So basically with the car side led still flashing I read faults. Which it did and can only think I interrupted the writing of the stuff back to the car.

In hindsight of course a very stupid thing to-do. After the full battery charge it would still not start. I then reloaded the ccf file from the backup on my pc and waited patiently for both LEDS on FM to stop flashing. Read and cleared faults and all was back to normal.

Unfortunately not a solution to your problem, but hope you get sorted soon.

Sorry I have been away for a bit, I have been fishing all sorts of c Censored p out from the passenger side footwell, don't think the fuse tweezer thingy will ever be seen again!!

Martin, fuse 11E in the engine compartment, is that one of the boxy things, I couldn't look at your link as it is not working for me... If it is, it looks O.K. Same with fuse 60 in the glovebox, well the new one to replace the one I dropped anyway!!

LED and all other dash functions working as normal.

Bearman,

Thanks for the reply, I have just responded to you over on the BBS forum.

I have tried putting everything back to square one but no change, I may have to wait for Gabbi & the team at BBS to have a look on Monday.

Pressure is on though as I am back off-shore Wednesday!

I'll just have to make sure I don't stall at Driff' tomorrow as it will be a bit embarrassing crawling under the bonnet to start up again half way round the off-road course!!

Are you a Cub flyboy then? You didn't have anything to do with that Wilga Tug having a prang with the UKIP dude down your way?

luvbus ...

Really need to be checking the trigger wire down on the solenoid and check for volts AND amps Thumbs Up

By giving it a feed , you are only finding out that it's not the starter solenoid/motor sticking or at fault.

If no feed at all , open circuit somewhere .

You may have a 12v feed down the trigger wire but not the amperage to operate it , for example , you could get 12volts down a strand of wire but this wouldn't carry the amperage .

Need to be checking all fuses , ign switch and associated wiring Thumbs Up

Thanks Tawnyowl,

I will get the multimeter out tomorrow and start having a good prod around! SWMBO has called time on it tonight, cannot see Censored all now anyhow.

NeilD,

Didn't know there was a mud run, thought that was Manby, will have to watch it at Driff' if the sun comes out there will be Landies cemented to terra-firma all over East Yorkshire, that mud is like concrete when it goes off!!

Try and get an amp clamp around the trigger wire and see what amps you got or use the multimeter on amps , disconnect the trigger wire from the starter and put one end on the starter and other end on wire so you are putting the multimeter in series and get swmbo to hold key in crank position,

Double check it's out of gear tho Shocked just incase it decides to start Thumbs Up

Good luck Thumbs Up

Yes Rich, very fortunate to have a little 1947 J3. One of the nicest aircraft to fly if not the nicest. Very Happy . I know you are otherwise occupied sorting out the disco so perhaps missed it. I am a little further South than the Wilga incident, another hemisphere actually Wink .

Good Luck on sorting the disco.

Hi All,

Spent most of the day with Pete from BAS and finally got the issue sorted!! Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

After much routing around looking for a physical problem it turns out the issue was with the 'tool' operating the tool!!

i.e. My faulty operation of the Faultmate!! Embarassed Embarassed

After flashing a file I should have had the EMS reset the 'fuel pump lift' an action that never occurred to me as the engine ran O.K. after it was started by bypassing the starter relay.

I understand the BBS team are now working on a patch which will automatically carry out the pump lift when the file is flashed to save anybody else having egg on their face like me!!

So thanks to all those who offered help & suggestions, Particularly Pete & the BBS Team, much appreciated. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Let the slagging begin!!!..... Embarassed Embarassed

Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Glad you got it sorted....

Can you explain what the "fuel pump lift" is and what it does please? I've seen the option, but never needed to look into it before.

Your message reminds me of a conversation a few months ago....my wife has a very good grasp of the English language as she demonstrated to me....

I was thinking about removing the viscous fan coupling because I thought it might be faulty and I said to her "I can't do it - according to GTR you need a special tool to be able to remove it"....she said "you should be ok - your mum always said you were special" Embarassed

I had always assumed it had something to do with priming a diesel similar to a manual 'lift pump' or purging the system, one of the reasons I did not think of trying it with my issue.

Obviously I am either completely wrong or it is linked it to other stuff as well.

After we tried it I thought I had seen Buellbeast refer to it on the BBS forum in the remap page. Iwill have to have a look.

It probably said something like "If you flash the EMS make sure you reset the fuel lift"!! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Maybe someone can chime in with the correct info.....
