Car lowered loss of power |
|
Hi,
While driving today the car lowered, loss of power and alarms everywhere. I think I saw a Auto Transmission fault flash on the message centre and then an F. I stopped and turned the ignition off and restarted all ok.
When I got home I read the faults with my MSV 2 see below.
The car is a 2007 SE 2.7l
The 96K service is due shortly I was going to take it to an Indy but now I am wondering if it should go to the dealer.
I would appreciate any help or advice regarding the faults. I have only had the car a couple of weeks.
Regards
Andrew

Hi CaverD3
Thanks for the reply.
No I haven’t checked the lights I will do that today.
I did check the battery It’s only a couple of months old and 13.5 volts at time of the fault.

G'day
Thanks Disco_Mikey for your advice.
The car is due for a service very soon but I think I will change the fuel filter tomorrow.

Hi,
While driving today the car came up with the following errors several times. I Stopped and cycled the engine off then on and the faults cleared. Gentle driving nothing hard
Auto transmission fault limited gears available
HDC fault
Engine fault
car lowered.
I have replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the MAP sensor since the last time.
Any thoughts or suggestions what to check next?
Below are the fault codes

The U Faults (AFAIK) are generally comms issues and normally not to worry about.
ENGINE MANAGEMENT:- 2 FAULTS
-:P2290
-:P0191
Both relate to fuel pressure. Could be low pressure pump or high pressure pump - or something else!
I had the first and had both EGR's replaced by the dealer - no recurrence yet Mark.
2006, D3 SE Auto - gone but not forgotten.

Hello,
My discovery 3 (2.7tdv6 '07 HSE) is having the same sort of problem as discussed here. Some wires that run near the rear axle have been replaced as also the fuelfilter. Now the problem is mostly gone. Though, when I tow a caravan or trailer the faults are coming back again. All the faults (parke brake, enigine, transmission) appear and the power gets shut down. When restarted it's all fine again for maybe 10 miles, then it happens all over again. Does anyone have any advice?
greetings from holland, excuse me for my english

Mine had exactly the same problems and fault messages
eg
Auto transmission fault limited gears available
HDC fault
Engine fault
car lowered.
Fuel filter replacement made no difference.
New fuel pump being fitted next week.
Happily the warranty company approved payment so to them.

Could be a brake globe fault? Do you have batteries in the van which could be draining power? check the wiring in the van. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Unfortunately that's not the case here, no batteries which are draining power. A broken fuelpump seems more logical to me. The errors only occur during 'heavy tasks' such as towing a trailer and driving full throtle constantly (in sportmode). It seems to me as an engine which needs more fuel then the fuelpump can deliver at that specific moment.

Got the car back from the dealer yesterday. They replaced the High pressure fuel pump.
The car seems more responsive with less lag at low revs.
Let’s hope this fixed the problem
