There is a mechanical release button to allow the lever to be moved. Remove the centre cup-holders and look for the white tab at the back top right corner of the lever assembly. I can't recall if it needs to be lifted or pushed, but it moves readily so easy to pick which way. There's one on the D3 at the same spot. Its certainly better than dragging the vehicle with the wheels locked.

My car is parked in a large car park with a lot of other new style cars all with remotest and a large number with keyless entry.it is also parked under several high voltage pylons and in close prozimity to a lot of very large transformers which give off known frequency problems ( work at a power station) but I have not had any issues neither have the D3 owners or have any of the others . So not sure what to think on this.

Not a Land Rover but I know from first hand that wireless transmissions can interfere with BMWs. A friend had a wireless repeater box that transmits tv signals from a STB to an TV. Not sure of the precise frequency.
However with this switched on, it was impossible to unlock my BMW about 10m away. It also affected his wife's BMW.

I had a P38 and it suffered from this. went to fill car up in BP (or is that British Petroleum these days ) came back couldnt get into the car. opened with key moved a metre and hey bingo. Brother had same is with D2
But not heard of it with D3 and P38 had a revised receiver unit to try and stop the issue

I have seen this problem with a number of vehicles where moving them a few yards and normality is restored
My wife's Zafira can't be parked in some part's of the local Costco car park as it will not unlock when you come to leave and ocassionally doesn't lock when you park up
Have seen 2 D2's not want to start until they were pushed 50 yards down the car park and numerous other similar instances of this happening. Had some funny looks when you tell people to push their vehicle a few yards from where it is and try to start it again "Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag'em down to your level. It's cheaper".

we occasionally use a remote control crane on-site, the driver has a remote control box on a strap around his neck, some recovery trucks use the same system. When the radio remote is switched on it kills all other radio devices within a 50m ish radius, mobile phones, remote locking, vans refuse to start or won't unlock etc. This is to stop stray radio signals from interfering with the crane signals which could be ..ahem "awkward"

The problem seems to be that there are only a small number of frequencies allocated for short range license free applications such as vehicle key fobs and so on. If you get receivers that are not filtered to only accept a very narrow range and / or you get a transmitters that has high level outputs, and / or has outputs that are a bit loose, and you put one too close to the other, you can get bleed over and washing out.
Nearly all transmissions are coded such that you won't get inadvertant activation but you can get sufficient interference to stop the origional transmission frome being recieved and decoded correctly.

In the case of the P38, one common problem was that any nearby transmission in quite a frequency range would wake up the BeCM causing a few amps to be drawn for several minutes till it went back to sleep again,left parked up for any time near other transmissions such as an Airport long stay would always result in a flat battery. They did indeed introduce a reciever (twice i think) with narrower filters.
