Car keyed in a supermarket carpark :(
Hi everyone,
Had an enjoyable start to my easter weekend when some toe rag decided to run a key down the door of my D4 on Friday morning. I got a quote of £600 from a bodyshop to paint the whole door but wondered if there are any good options available. I am guessing a smart repair is not a good option but wanted to gather some views.
Oh and I had Geoff enable the remote fuel burning heater the other week - top guy, fantastic job and could not recommend him more highly. The heater has made the early morning starts way more tolerable.

Pretty deep - not to the metal but way into the black paint so I can see the white underneath. Think it is a paint job unfortunately.
Agreed, beyond a polish out if its to the primer, but £600 , I'd be looking at a smart repair company I think Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Yea I guess it was jealousy
I was thinking of a SMART repair but not sure which one is recommended and how good a job they do. The bodyshop was telling me to avoid them because the repair will not last and will show a couple of years down the line but they would say that I guess lol.

Paint
Hi
It's probably not what you want to hear but you paint chaps are correct don't get the smart repair done, its okay on not so obvious bits, but a door is to easily seen this needs to get properly fixed or it will devalue your car at trade in if you leave it or try to do it on the cheap
Cheers

Although I've never used them, I've heard that 'chips away' do a good repair.
I'm sure that they guarantee the repair.
Worth a call to find out more.

I used chips away when I got my shogun keyed a few years ago the did a fantastic job, and all done on my drive at home, £180 but talking 5 years ago. Going to give them a call again as some scrote has opened their door onto my d3 and left a nasty ding on my rear door.

Get a decent local sprayer to do the job, shouldn't be any more than £200 quoting £600 for painting a door is just robbery, my mates a good painter and self employed and just painted a Volvo FH12 in matallic silver full strip and prep and took £2500 so do the maths, £600 there having a laugh.
