Recently, as my tyres are at the end of thier life and are being swapped out, I've taken the D3 out for a little more green laning than I would normally (mud free though, naturally, which the dry weather has helped with of course!), knowing that I won't have a financial hit to take should I get a puncture!
Though I'm no stranger to byways, we don't normally do any hardcore green laning, but yesterday got a little carried away, partly frustrated by a number of unsuccesful attempts at other BOATs that had become too overgrown.
It was fine for a way, if narrow and rutty, and we had to get under this:
I'd walked ahead and found it; fortunately, my judgement was right but it wouldn't have got under without using access height.
Further down, however, the byway became rather slopey, with a deep rut to one side and a bit overgrown. Unfortunately, I wasn't really in a position to stop and take any other pics (and only had the iPad).
All I can say is, the D3 was fantastic (as I knew it would be); the supension, traction control, Terrain Response, HDC and transfer box worked their magic and the 4x4 info also proved vital. We didn't get through without some "battle scars" to deal with ( ) but I coul not have asked for a better car.
The car was, from an off-roading point of view, completely standard. I didn't bother to raise the suspension any further, though I had the IID ready. Nice to confirm first hand that LR know their stuff and I wouldn't have wanted to be driving anything else.

Unfortunately, I've had to give up on the lanes around here - far too narrow for anything more than a dirt bike

your right of coarse....but get yourself over to lre Solihull....then you will see wat it really does....water up the middle of the doors while you go thro the jungle.....see saw...and lots more

We're quite fortunate over here to live in one of the most (if not the most) green lane rich areas of the UK, with all varieties to choose from around the plain and downlands.

Deep mud/water is certainly one area I wouldn't want to venture with my own D3. I wouldn't normally have done this either; shame I couln't have got a nice picture when it was leaning right over but I didn't want to hang around and let it slide into the bushes.

I've done the trick of measuring carefully the height of an overlapping branch only then to hit it due to the weight of the vehicle pushing on the roots.
