Can u solve D4 Indicator Mystery Reverse headlights works OK |
|
Is there any brainy sparks out there ?
Just sold my old 2007 D3 UK plate and replaced it with a Disco 4 in Sweden.
Brilliant new Disco 4 from 2013 with only 60,000 km (1 owner and immaculate) .
But I have a problem with the front indicator and it has been driving me mad for 3 weeks and I still cant work out this mystery?
The Right Hand Side Front Indicator does not work, the side indicator and back work fine.
All Pins have been checked and the bulb is working fine.
I don't believe this an electrical problem or contact issue !.
I switched the Headlights over and everything works fine and all indicators are working as they should be. See video https://vimeo.com/428774858 - Switched headlights
In the next video the headlight back in the right place with the same indicator fault returns
https://vimeo.com/428775473
I am guessing now, but could this be a fault in the BCM ? or ?
Any support or ideas to try would be great
Cheers Jason

Is the bulb a filament or LED? Have you any fault codes?
I’m thinking a resistance issue i.e. tolerances between bulb and position. Sounds stupid but have you tried just swopping bulbs around? Also check if you can swop the headlight harness over, I can’t remember if you can remove without disassembling (I don’t think you can).
Another thought, when you connect the engine bay harness to the lamp, does the orientation change, i.e. 180’ around? Could it be a bad wire making a connection when it’s turned out of its normal resting position? Could be worth turning the offending headlight upside down to see if it starts to work. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

now fixed indicator problems |
|
I stripped the complete head light looking for a bad / loose connection and a drop in voltage or resistance !
I found the problem, there was a corroded small dry solder joint , on the Kerb lights ( when turning right or left).
Re soldered and back in place and working brilliant.
The dry joint was effecting the indicator, Now a happy chap after 4 weeks of fault finding and didnt costs me a penny
Thanks for the all reply's

So when it was upside Lon the other side the connection made again. Typical, but at least the issue is solved and recorded here for future Red. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)
