How can “Daffodil Land†do it............. and we can't!
Just spent a week in West Wales and only found ONE pothole with a lot of roads (including lanes) having been resurfaced in the last few years. It put our roads to shame (the opposite end of the spectrum being the Isle of Wight).
Pros:
The natives were extremely friendly and polite, even though some spoke with some weird sort of language
Roads.
Cons:
Far too many bends and not enough straights
Far too many varying speed limits which went on for mile after mile so you never knew what limit you were in.
Far too many “Camera Vansâ€. Counted three in just one day and they were cunningly hidden (just waiting for the brown envelopes to arrive)
We won’t say anything about the weather, best not discussed
I didn’t buy any diesel but there was a 10p/ltr fluctuation around the area.
The only draught cider was Strongbow
Highlights:
Dolphin watching from the harbour wall in New Quay (saw two adults and one calf).
Kite feeding (+100) at the Welsh Kite Centre (no strings attached...ouch).
Beach driving north of Borth (couldn’t believe the number of 4x4’s with horse boxes on the beach, even Mr Wippy turned around in the break water).
Boring figures:
887miles (200 motorway) – 28.7mpg – 29.1 avg mph. Well you couldn’t go much faster.
I think there was also a competition between "Sally Satnav" and SWMBO as to who could find the narrowest lanes, most with grass growing down the middle. At times I thought I was driving off road.
Other than that
