Can I code genuine d4 key with iid?
Hi.
Looking at getting a key coded to the 2012 d4 and I got a ridiculous price to code it to the car, so my thoughts are to get the iid tool to outweigh the price of buying it and do it myself. Also I want to activate the rear cam I’ve fitted. So can it code the 5 button key? And will I need to get a new module?
Cheers
Neil

I coded a 5 button key to a 2011 D4, no issues and simple to do. The IIDTool will prompt you (on your phone using the app) what to do. The key was bought off Ebay.

Perfect! I’ve just ordered one through eBay! It’s paid for itself already.

I think from what I’ve read on here, MY13 and newer you may struggle.
Happy to hear otherwise.

Neil has a 2012 so would be fine. If you have issues with a newer car you can email GAP and they will help you out to make it work.

The solution for later years was done a few months ago but requires contacting us for special instructions. There is however a difference on the later 2016 for which we still need to work on.http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/
Thanks Pat
Does this mean that the 2016 versions are a little more secure

Why is it that when you speak to lock people and Land Rover they want you to get a new module?

Because if you use SDD to code the key, it won’t allow it until you renew the rfa module to make sure it’s up to the latest software level. Slightly newer rfa modules can be up dated software wise with SDD, then code the key.
It was to make them more secure. But to be honest it seems the thieves can steal even the latest ones, so it just seems to affect those wanting a legit spare key.
Patrick as ever, provides a simple solution to the majority of key coding. Thanks

Steve

I’m glad it can do it. And to be honest it makes no difference to me wether I have the latest software update. If the thieves want something then they will take it! If I can get the new key all coded and it’s easy enough il probably buy another and have 3 keys.

Unfortunately it is exactly these type of tools that the thieves utilise...this is how easy it is to steal your car when you go to the car wash, airport car park, hotel etc etc..
Being controversial I know but I am horrified that these tools can do this!
It is for this exact reason that car crime is going through the roof.... still apparently no one cares....
