Oh and while it’s been revived il just update the thread and say yes the iid was able to code the key. So 2 keys now for the car. 😀

I’m glad it can do it. And to be honest it makes no difference to me wether I have the latest software update. If the thieves want something then they will take it! If I can get the new key all coded and it’s easy enough il probably buy another and have 3 keys.

Unfortunately it is exactly these type of tools that the thieves utilise...this is how easy it is to steal your car when you go to the car wash, airport car park, hotel etc etc..
Being controversial I know but I am horrified that these tools can do this!
It is for this exact reason that car crime is going through the roof.... still apparently no one cares....

ISTR a key cannot be programmed (edit: without) a genuine working key being present.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It’s also worth knowing that D4 keys can be reprogrammed which means you could have bought a second hand one or two and reprogrammed them and saved a little more Thumbs Up

Not sure what you mean as I had both keys in my lap while I programmed the new one to the car?

For £60 it’s not even worth chancing a secondhand key.

Typo: read that as without not with an active programmed key being present.
If you can obtain new keys for that price you are correct, last time I priced one up for a D3 they where nearer 200 + programming Shocked

Have a look on eBay. There’s a transit parts supplier who I’ve purchased stuff off before. They have the genuine lr keys for £59.95. The only thing you don’t get is the key blank.
