yeh considering its a mash up of different purchases based on a fuzzy picture in my head it didn't turn out too bad and can be configured any number of ways as the only fixed component is the roof awning.
it will certainly suffice for me and the dogs for a few days breaks through the year.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

oh yeh ive got plenty of guys and pegs.... what camper doesn't ?
this was just a very quick set up last night at Clumber Park to see how it worked together. There was no wind and it was only up for about an hour while we chilled out with a cold beer (just the one mind you)
when I can actually get a booking to go away it will all be guyed down regardless of weather.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Nice setup
When I first got my awning I used a tall Coleman windbreak around it too, like you have. Worked well. It gave good shelter but also got nice and cosy with a small firepit inside - but still had plenty of ventilation.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

its a Coleman windbreak and Coleman tent, which is meant to be a 4 man but would be right for 2 people at most really and its designed to put up by one person quickly (takes literally a minute to put up) Theres plenty enough room for my camp cot and space for the dog, although im planning on getting a 2nd Springer in the next month or so which will be even cosier next year
the beauty of it is that it can be set up in different ways, less the fixed awning, so can be adapted as needed.
im really quite impressed with myself that my fuzzy head plan worked out, and good to see positive comments on here as I know theres some much better set up Disco owners out there. Plus im open to suggestions and budget friendly improvements. The whole thing awning, extension, tent, and windbreak cost me less than £400.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I like this style of setup. It‘s very flexibel and light. I used to do similar setups before we got into car camping.
In windy condition it can be frustrating to setup if you need some shelter from the rain . For me, camping gear always needed to be minimized by amount, size and weight. Since we changed from hike to bike to car camping that philosophy changed a little bit. Weight has no priority anymore but setup time, volume and ruggedness. Since we travel with 2 kids and don‘t want to sleep in a tent (often not possible because of location or ground) the only solution was a very fast deploying rooftop tent and a simple bed construction in the cargo bay. A 270-Awning with side walls completes the fast setup to offer some protected living space if needed. If it rains a lot we just continue driving to a better place or to the next hotel _,,,_______///________
