camp sites central to everyone?

Hi chaps,

I'm looking at organizing an event. But the problem finding a location that isn't to far from us down south and that isn't to far from those down in pasty land etc! Soi f anyone has any ideas of sites (not caravan club!) that for-fill all the need for tin tents, tents and campavans. And maybe somewhere that has an off road facility near by?

Any ideas would be welcome Thumbs Up

Mark

We often organise camping based team building events for national companies.

We always go to Derbyshire as it is accessable by 75% of the UK population within an hour and a half by car so it is fairly easy and central for the majority.

We always use http://www.carsingtoncaravaning.co.uk/ and can't recommend them enough - if you are happy to be quiet from 11 pm onwards.

If you want to make noise and party into the small hours, this is not the site for you, there are others nearby I could help with identifing a suitable one if needed.

I know of some 4x4 sites but they are all a bit of a trek to be fair, what about a green lane trip, there are plenty of routes in the Peaks if you are happy to be responsible.

I am sure it probably is... I never said Derbyshire was the centre of the UK, I said it was easy to get too for 75% of the population... just saying Laughing

I'd be happy with anywhere TBH... The discos a pleasure to drive any distance... Was a bit of a joke about haltwhistle, it's where my mother is from and is about 40 years behind everywhere else in the UK. Thumbs Up (hope no one from Haltwhistle takes offence)

By team building do you mean drinking & supporting the local pub in it's quest to survive? Whistle

I would agree that anywhere that works is good as I love driving the D3 anyway.

There is plenty of choice in Yorkshire and some good 4x4 sites around (near Leeds especially)

... I would suggest that's the plan DSL ! It's only 3 hours for me to Ashbourne, dependant on dates I'm in.

The beauty of this site is that they have a camping field which you can (well I can) reserve for a large group. We usualy set up a central meeting/tea/coffee area (we use large bell tents and/or marquees), I usually stay in my roof tent but we use bell tents for the customers and have put caravans on the field in the summer.

The fact you get the field means you can keep yourself slighty away from everyone else and have an area you can call your own.

The site is good but be aware, the only thing they are fussy about is making sure there are no late night parties etc - they like it kept quiet after 11 pm for the families with small kids etc

We always respect this and have never had any problems (even with youth groups who are not generally that quiet over night!).

I know the owners really well through using the place over the years so must declare an interest - other sites are available locally - you could take a look at the Knockerdown inn as well, they offer camping in the field behind the pub although it is a bit more rowdy at times!
