Calling all Bristol area members |
|
When I return to the UK in August my wife & I will be moving to Bristol.
By then my service agreement with Stratstones will have expired & I'm on the look out for a good & reliable indie to take over the servicing/maintenance etc.
My research has shown up....
1. Steve Hill Land Rovers ....... in Brislington
2. Land Rover Services ....... in Bedminster
...... and I'm sure that's not the only Land Rover specialists in the area.
Has anybody got any feedback on the two listed or any other suggestions? We don't know where we'll be living yet but will be working at Bristol Children's Hospital.
Thanks in advance Nick

Hi,
Welcome to Bristol (when you arrive). I am situated just off White Ladies road
I use a mixture of Guy Salmon, Steve Hill and Landrover Services in Hartcliffe.
Guy Salmon - Main Dealer so can be a stealer.
Steve Hill - Great for small jobs but I have found for servicing etc he is about the same price as the main dealer. (others have used him more recently than me and will be along soon)
Landrover Services - Looks like they will be doing my 7 year service and they are friendly there too. Not actually had work done there yet but have been in a few times to discuss service that is coming up in July.
There are a few other garages out the other side of Bristol from us that I have rung but never actually been to/ had work done.
So out of the two you have named I can not add to them. And have not really helped
But I will let you know what the out come is on my 7 year service in July
Others will be along shortly with more helpful info 07 Java Black TD V6 D3, EGRs Blanked, Tow bar, Full dog guard & divider, LED Spots , DRLs, GG ATs, RLD Sump guard, RLD Spare Wheel Protector, D4 LED Rear Lights, Limo tints on boot and Midnight tint on rear windows, Kenwood screen with Garmin nav, Rear cameras, D4 Steering wheel with flappy paddles, T-max split charge system, Tree sliders, Prospeed roof rack & Ladder, Alisport fast road inter cooler,

I use http://www.mimotors.co.uk for any interim work, such as brakes, fluid changes etc. I've known Ian for over 20 years and he's a genius mechanic. One of only 3 people I'd let work on any of the more specialised vehicles that I had in the past.
His business partner Matt, is a Land Rover trained technician, but they don't mention that on their website.
Good labour rates as they're just a small outfit.
For main servicing I always go to TH White, I've bought 3 Disco's from them and they always look after me very well inc. price matching cheaper places. It makes life easier for me for any warrantee work and px deals etc as they're dealing with a vehicle that they've supplied from new and serviced.
My colleague just uses MI for all servicing etc on his 2008 D3 though.
There's also MJ Fews, I've not used them but always heard good things about them.

They used to be a dealer, but from what I heard they didn't fit/follow the corporate breadcrumb trail that LR insisted on..... I think Disco Dunc has used them more than most
