Calling all BlackBerry experts... bluetooth help needed!

I've just replaced my old Nokia with a shiny new BlackBerry 8820. Having found & stored the D3 as a bluetooth device on the BB, I had expected it to then automatically connect to the car each time I put the key in the ignition (just as the Nokia did). Instead, I am having to manually connect the BB to the car each time, which is both a pain &, more importantly, means I'm not handsfree when a call comes in.
Anyone know if there's a BB setting that will resolve this & allow automatic connection?

That's the same problem I'm having with my ipaq 6915!!
yes, it's a pain in the @rse having manually to connect each time.
With my old ipaq, it picked up automatically.
Can't find any way of configuring for auto pick up.

Ronp,
There MUST be a solution to both of these... how can newer technology be so backward, and on such a basic issue?!

No problem at all, Ronp - piggy-back all you like if it helps us find a solution. I only got the new phone yesterday & the more I think about it, the more dangerous it is: every incoming first call of the day will NOT be hands-free Evil or Very Mad !
Is there anybody out there who can help us?

I don't have a BB 8820 but a BB 8100 and this is what you have to do on my phone.

Go to Options, click on Bluetooth, click on the Bluetooth link to your D3 and select Device properties. Next to the Trusted option change this to Yes and save. This should make the BB auto connect.
Loving the power of the TDV8!

You also need to go into the Bluetooth Option menu and set "Discoverable" to "Yes". It takes a few minutes to find mine on startup but connection is usually excellent.

Be careful when you leave the car as it has an irritating habit of staying connected for a while after you lock up if you're still in range.

That's exactly what I had done, yet it still won't auto-connect - even when left alone for a few minutes after start-up. Also, with my old Nokia, it didn't matter what the sequence was (iginition in car followed by phone switch on, or vice versa), the 2 still connected almost immediately.

OK, next question... How do I make the BB (8700) sync ALL of my address book across to the D3? Currently my list stops just into the Ms, which is a shame if I want to call Paul who works for me! OK, I've got a lot of contacts, but my (much preferred) HTC phone managed to sync the same list just fine, so it's not the D3's fault

Martin, now regretting having spent so long pushing for BBs for all the team!
