GLASS Cambs Rep
Hi all,
I have just taken on the roll of Cambs Rep for GLASS, I have driven most of the lanes mentioned above and there are some pretty poor condition ones amongst the lanes but all drivable with care and forethought.
If anyone in the area is keen to try offroading I can organise something as a small group say 5.
I will be at Bield Drove on Sunday 18th having a bbq anyone welcome TL542 839 its a lovely grassy spot ideal for kids too.
The Aldreth routes are still locked at the far end I have reported this to CCC as i think it is the local farmer locking the gates.

As glass rep are you planning on helping protecting the remaining lanes we do have in cambridgshire / ely. Would love to know I ask glass at most land rover shows I see them but they could never give an answer. I think the previous rep didn't attend the cambridgshire local access forum with council.
Please don't see this as a negative I wish you the best and very willing to help.www.pcsupportservicez.co.uk

We are fighting a losing battle with the minority of owners of modified D1's and D2's who put huge tyres on and rut the lanes unusable I really do give in no one respects the efforts we put in I have just had some nice D3 owners help me reclaim a nice drove between March and Friday Bridge. we have cleared trees and cut back shrubs but the ruts are ridiculous and dangerous to the likes of us. I do not see the pleasure of dragging each other out of sticky holes.

Not all ruts are caused by 4x4 even with 35 inch tyres on a d1 or 90 you can't make ruts that deep. It's the same around Ely I had a 90 with 35 inch tyres and I used to get stuck in some ruts. Mainly caused by farmers using the byways to get to their fields.www.pcsupportservicez.co.uk

I can assure you these are 4x4 the farmer does not use the lane these are D1/2 users there is a gang of them round here. also farm vehicles could not fit down the narrowest parts we have cut down small trees to give better clearance for a D3. There is also lots of D1/2 plastic parts from grilles to bumper corners ...they really have no respect. Go have a look for yourself. I agree some of the fen droves are damaged by farm traffic but not this one. Its our own fraternity we are fightingiiD Bluetooth Diagnostic Tool

Maybe the plastics are from damage where the other vechiles have fallen in the ruts. If you have seen other drivers there have you advised them about glass maybe they just don't know what there doing is causing issue. Older motors have solid axles it's very hard to make a rut that size.www.pcsupportservicez.co.uk

Weald Farm
Been looking at the definitive map to see what might be drivable (and much has already gone through TRO's) and found the drive that goes from Abbotsley to Weald, but it just doesn't connect up to the A428, yet there is a driveway there that presumably connects to Weald Farm. There is a bridleway shown but not a byway. It's subject to a TRO that restricts traffic from October to the end of April, but it doesn't seem to have a bit that connects up at the end.
Anyone gone that way before?

Yes that’s right. There’s a TRO which closed the through access when the farm was done up. Disappointing really
Never drive down from the Abbotsley end as worried will have to reverse out and that it looks very narrowSill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

So basically they made it completely useless unless you want to get to the farm and have the council pay for your effectively private road.
