but will any of these work with a 1st gen Ipad Question as they dont have a camera

am I right in thinking that they need to have a camera function to "see" the sky

have still got an old laptop running windows ME and have memory map and a usb GPS and a PDA or is this just to old school only keep the thing for running maps Laughing

Thumbs Up

If you have a gen 1 iPad, all you need to make sure is that it has a SIM card slot for a 3G connection as it will have GPS built in.... Camera not required.... Rolling with laughter

As DD sez, Gen 1 iPads (like mine) just need to have 3G, hence GPS. They don't have cameras. Anywhere inside the dab is fine, they keep a lock pretty well. Thumbs Up

Hi DD,
its first gen but wifi only and can see no 3G sim slot Sad so no GPS then.

and Dubbs why would I mention GPS again Question after all I already had Whistle

Like J@mes said I did not know if it used the camera to "see" where it was, understand it does for star plotting type apps.

looks like I will stick with the laptop and PDA,
dont think the Ipad is ready for changing yet even it has not got a camera or GPS Sad

could put up with a Mammory app though, even if you got lost it would be fun exploring back to the right point.....

Thumbs Up

I run MM on my 1st generation iPad with no problems.
You may need the 64g one that already has GPS built in or just buy a separate GPS Bluetooth module.
