Buying Approved Used LR4 HSE Luxury |
|
So after 6 years of missing my last Disco 4, we have finally gone ahead and put a deposit on an approved used one with a 2 year manufacturers warranty.
When I asked if there are carpet mats with the car I got the following response
"I have spoken to my manager about the mats, they are not on the order form and do not come standard for a car of this age so these will not be provided."
FFS (and I don't swear) but looking at a Disco 4 spec list it clearly states that they come as standard and for the Almond/Arabica interior the carpets comes in the nutmeg colour.
I don't want to rock the boat as having to make a mammoth train journey to collect on Saturday but together with their poor customer service I have a good mind to challenge it with LR customer service after the event.
Your thoughts are much appreciated.... Discovery 4 HSE Lux - Second time around

You challenge after the event and I suspect that you will be ignored.
Sort it out when you collect the car otherwise I don't think that it will happen Not such a Disco Newbie now!

The message was from the handover team...however waiting for sales person to ring me tomorrow for the transfer of money so will mention it to her......
I'm holding my patience as purchase is at a really good price and in the colour I wanted.
I will still be a keyboard warrior with LR customer services for some feedback for them to address. Discovery 4 HSE Lux - Second time around

Not sure on what age car is but I had a similar thing with my 2016 HSE lux.
When I went to collect the car there was no luggage area pull out cover thingy. When I challenged this I was told that they no longer came with them which I found very hard to believe with a HSE lux model. So had a walk around the dealership who had 2 others in one a 16 and one a 15 and both had them. I also looked on the Landrover approved sale site and every lux they were advertising had them in the pictures. I dug my heels in and all of a sudden they found me one.
On the point of your mats mine certainly came with the posh ones. I Think I would be arguing the point before you collect as since I have had mine I have certainly found Land Rover customer service to be the worst.

Thanks for the reply. What I can't stand is the blatant disregard for honesty. I mean a back street may have more credibility.
BTW is a 2015 adblue model which falls under MY16 not that it makes a difference. Discovery 4 HSE Lux - Second time around

The car would from new, come with carpet mats.
However, you are buying used and presumably the agreed price was for the car 'as seen'

When we bought our approved used 2016 Evoque they put new mats in even though the ones in it when we looked at the car were in very good condition. They also included a new boot liner and mud flaps.

Get the VIN number and check the build on Topix. Car mats is an option on the build sheet. MY14 TDV6

It has been assured to me that whatever the car came with from the factory they have to ensure it meets that requirement plus when I asked about the RSE they said yes both headphones and remote are present...
Can't believe some mats that cost £150 new they would want to argue about the fact....

every time ive bought LR Approved I have to be cheeky and ended up with a heavy discount on mats but they would never provide anything FOC as the car was sold as seen under the scheme.
But one major thing I did learn is that not all LR dealers follow the code of conduct for Approved cars.
I bought an approved used Evoque from a main dealer in Chesterfield, they had failed to rectify any of the issues I picked up on test drive, which included short MOT, service required, worn drivers seat, missing bonnet lettering and general scratches. They had just washed it and tried to hand over the keys which, as my part ex car was now uninsured and untaxed I had to accept the Evoque with a promise to rectify all the issues. Which they did eventually...... but.....
The car had to be collected by LR Assist a total of 5 times in 7 months of ownership and required a new PTU, new gearbox, and several other parts I cant recall. Even the clutch and flywheel needed replacing but the warranty refused this. Turned out the car had been in fairly bad accident, been badly repaired privately and then dumped on the dealer in part ex.
The dealer had apparently failed to carry out any of the 165 point approved checks. And then when they agreed to deal to swap me out let me drive away with no MOT on the replacement even though I had asked if it was MOT, serviced etc.
Bottom line is I wouldn't trust most LR dealers now as far as I could throw them, they are only interested in the PCP deals and selling cars with zero customer service.
