Brakes
Had the fron pads and dicscs replaced at the last service (about 2 weeks ago), and also new tyres and wheel alignment
If I apply the brakes very gently at about 55mph I get severe wheel wobble. However I then tried some hard braking a few times and couldn't repeat the effect. Is it just the new pads bedding in?

Sounds like warped discs, but very strange for it to happen on brand new ones 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
1/ The new discs are out of true - more likely on cheap discs.
2/ When fitted, the mating face on the rear of the disc to the hub flange was not clean, maybe a small amount of debris (this face is critical, very few discs we paint are coated on this face as the 5-10 microns of paint they claim will through the disc out of true)
3/ a high spot on the disc
Either way I should take it back and ask for a new set.

As CG said in option 1, cheap disc tend to have run-out. We've had to have new discs skimmed after checking with a dti gauge

Al Cope had this with non-genuine discs.... check what you had fitted and what you paid for the parts, be a real shame to have paid for genuine ones but....Cheers
