| Brake pedal and accelerator alignment |

The brake pedal on my D4 is higher than the accelerator pedal. You therefore cannot slide your foot from the accelerator over to the brake pedal but have to lift your foot before feeling for the brake. Is this normal for a D4 or should both pedals be at the same height. I ask as today I nearly collided with a brick wall whilst trying to brake!
Any advice appreciated as I am thinking of having a hand operated brake fitted to the steering wheel.

Mine is like that (higher brake pedal).
Was punting the wife's auto Jeep around last night, and that is exactly the same.
So I'm guessing it's normal!
Not sure why you'd want to fit a hand operated brake - if it's just for emergency stopping you can pull up and hold the electronic brake switch.
Be careful though, as that will stop you very fast indeed (doesn't apply the handbrake, instead it FULLY applies the normal brakes through the ABS system).

A lot of manufacturers do it now.
I believe and I'll be happily corrected, that's it's a safety feature to stop you accidentally pressing the brake when trying to accelerate. I.e. it's better to hit both when braking as the system won't accelerate but not so good if you need to accelerate and hit the brake.

Thank you for replying to my post.
This afternoon I checked out another two D4's and found they were the same as my own. Our local Indy specialist reckoned mine was OK. I suppose I will just have to be extra careful when I reverse and if in any difficulty use the parking brake as ASP suggests.

Some advocate left foot braking when reversing, leaving the right for the throttle, then you don't have to move your feet across the pedals.
