Travelling back from a nice weekend in the bush i heard a grating sound coming fro the wheels. Just dust caught in the pads i thought until i checked back at home. One of the rear brake pads was non existant and the grating sound i heard was the pad grating into the disc.
Surley the indiaction should have indicated brake pad wear?
I managed to get it in to dealer for fixing and preform the 36K service (A week before it was due in because of a 2 week waiting list).
Should the replacement of the disc and pads now come under the warranty for failure to notify of wear?
What detemines the wear indicator? Is it in the pad itself? If so then do i have a case of faulty pads fitted?

There should be a brake pad wear sensor at each pad. Had my front pads replaced and discs ground. The next week the check brake pad warning came on; one of the sensors hadn't been fitted properly sand the sensor got caught and stuffed. Dealer replaced FOC. The brake pad warning soyld have come on.
I would be asking them to replace under warranty as the sesors obviously failed if you got no warning. The only other possibility is the got stuf and wore very quickly, even then the warning light wouls d have showed. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

be aware that wear sensors are only fitted to front left and rear right wheels. The other two are not monitored.

Great!
I guess you need to know how much wear was left in the other one.
So what is the point of the pad sensors then, they only have a 50% chance of warning you? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Got my D3 back last night.
All new pads and rear disks.
No charge - Under warranty
Yes there is only a sensor on one side front & back - Bit stupid if you ask me.
A RR came into the service bay just before me - Same fault - Same wheel
Is there a problem here?
