I once bought non LR oem spec discs this year thinking it would save some dosh...however there is an indentation on the rear of the disc for the lip of the stone guard to sit in, some manufacturers supply the same disc for a variety of vehicles and in my case the stone guard would not sit in the groove as it was too shallow and scrape when on hard lock....... bought genuine LR from stealer...all fitted fine

its OK to state which dealer on here..providing we are not libelling or slandering them its OK

most dealers will do this of course....do this until you trust them
NJSS wrote: rationale is that they don't know how many miles you are going to drive before the next service!
VERY VERY True....whats the point of having to go back in less than say 5k miles to have the same wheels off strip down (that costs...YOU).
I ensure that my D3 (& all the other vehicles I have & use) can go till the next service which may be 15k away

not Rocket Science difficult to do

if you ask on here for the area you are in - there will be some good advice as to who's who to go to
Brakes are critical safety kit....very useful when you want to stop at all especially if you want to stop quickly....why about BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Someone offering to drive to your house and change pads yet only charge £50 labour. Sounds like a hobby mechanic as you are loosing money at that!
Not sure if I'd be happy for a hobby mechanic to service my brakes!

There is nothing even remotely difficult about changing brake pads, front or rear, its not like they are defective, just the pads and or discs worn. If it were an actual fault in the braking system that may be different depending on fault.
Also, have you seen the state of some of these dealer mechanics, I could list a few very basic things that have come out of their workshops, wrong, which you as an owner may take more care over as you don't do it every day. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Dave T..... Get off your high horse!
I was mearly stating or indeed asking. How can you make money at £25 per hour including fuel etc.....
I can change my own brake pads! Too. Just would'nt fancy paying someone I met in the internet £50 to do it for me!
