Ok, so after moving my manual D3 on to another forum member, I was left without transport. A couple of weeks later this D4 Commercial comes up on FB Marketplace ( not my first port of call for a motor). But the price is good and the provenance seems pretty legit. Seller says he’s got others waiting to view, but he needs the cash quickly.
Long story short, I hand over the coin ‘sold as seen’ and drive away. It drives lovely, the 8 speed is buttery smooth, there’s no untoward rattles. I’m well pleased.
The issue is that it ‘felt’ bigger than the D3 whilst driving. I lowered the driver’s seat ( to where I’d had it on the D3 for 10 years, no still feels ‘tall’. I put it down to seat sag, until I got home.
I’d thought that the wheels looked ‘chunky’ with plenty of tread, but the are Landmark 20”. A closer look ( yes I know, “ why didn’t you look at the wheels before buying?”) and the tyres are 275/55/20s!!!!
So my question. I reckon I have about 32” of tyre at each corner. So why am I getting no rubbing/fouling on full lock? What else have I missed and should I go back to 255/50/20s?

The only way a 32" tyre should be able to fit is if you have Johnson rods (or similar) fitted GazJacko and, even then, I would expect some rubbing on full lock. Have you still got all the wheel arch liners in place? Seems like an odd tyre configuration if I may though, most people (me included) would only go for a 32" tyre to get more tyre wall, not wider tyres.
Standard tyre sizes on a Landmark - 255/50/20 or you could have the 255/55/19 which is equally a 30" tyre.
First I'd inspect to see if Johnson rods are indeed fitted 1978 Series 3 88 Military Green (Gone)

Been in touch with the previous owner, (a LR Technician).
Apparently he set it up with the GAP IID tool for a 15mm increase in ride height! Assures me it won’t rub and it’ll glide over rough tracks.
Only job to do now is to get the tape measure out for approaching car park barriers

Just be aware that if you ever have problems with the air suspension and lower to bump stops you will have rubbing problems and a large turning radius.
32” is pretty common on the American forums, you’ll find a lot folks trying to fit 33” (requires trimming). 2008 LR3 HSE, 4.4L V8
