BOSCH S6013/S6002/S5A13 etc? |
|
Confused with Bosch Silver AGM battery part numbers...
I've seen the S6013/S6002 (and 019AGM) reference numbers used on some sites and went ahead and ordered a BOSCH S6013 but my [Swiss] supplier has delivered an S5A13 - which I had never heard of...
I now see S6013/S5A13 used together on a few sites but can't find much literature on line about the S5A13.
Is the S5A13 simply the new S6013 at least in some markets? It seems odd that they are using a '5' where once they used a '6' as I thought that the '6' implied top of the line and the '5' were a cheaper range.
My S5A13 is AGM and 95AH/850A and I see the "ETN" of 595 901 085 which I've seen mentioned before on S6013s so perhaps I'm good to go but I'd like to be sure that I have the best battery and haven't been palmed off with a lesser model. Any up to date intel out there? Cheers.
The Bosch website simply adds to the confusion by listing S5 with EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) technology and not mentioning any S5 with AGM technology. MY11 D4 SDV6 SE LHD (with remote park heater, heated seats in row 2, heated steering wheel and rear HVAC controls!)

I have just fitted the same battery today, how weird!! I did loads of research and also ordered the S6 battery and they delivered this. It is AGM so I'm happy. Maybe the S6 does not exist in this market. The one thing I could not work out was a date stamp as its always good to check that the battery has not been hanging around. I could not find anything stamped on the terminal or letter codes on the battery that would give me a date. I checked the internet and no joy. Anyway its fitted and hopefully good for many many years as much better than my original battery that is now no longer. How much was yours...I paid £150.00

Fitted the S5A13 also couple of weeks ago. The S6 doesn't appear in Bosch's catalogue any more. I think the S6 series has simply been rebranded S5A.
Very pleased with the S5A13.

Sounds good, thank you both.
P.S. My cost in Switzerland for the S5A13 was CHF443 delivered - a whopping £310 at the current exchange rate including 8% local VAT and that was allegedly after a 30% discount on the MSRP... My local Land Rover dealer offered 15% off his catalogue price (the Swiss Franc is high at the moment) but it would have still worked out about 10% more and here's hoping that the Bosch S5A13 is better than the Varta(?) that he would have supplied. I looked into ordering a battery in the UK and having it shipped but couldn't find anyone who could do the Bosch. At least our diesel is generally about 10% cheaper over here when compared to prices in the UK so its swings and roundabouts! True, but on a CHF/kg basis, it's considerably cheaper than the local cheese! MY11 D4 SDV6 SE LHD (with remote park heater, heated seats in row 2, heated steering wheel and rear HVAC controls!)
