.......unless you want to use the rear seats more than once a year as the Velcro used extensively by Hatchbag just falls off if you need to remove the Hatchbag more than a very few times. I threw my Hatchbag away for this reason and bought a LR moulded boot liner instead and wish I had done this first time round. No complaints from the dog either.

The LR one doesn't use velcro to hold the sides up, it uses suction pads on the side glass, which are pants. Also the flap which covers the lower tail gate isn't fixed down so isn't great when you have dogs jumping in and out. My friend has one and I'm not impressed.
If you want to see the one I've got, let me know and we can meet up. Could even arrange for you to see the LR one too
I don't know any one locally with the hatchbag  The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

I know it's a big difference in budget, but if it's for a dog, you just can't beat a dog box.
I've got a Rhino liner though that I use if I need to use the full boot. Happy with it - nicely made. Can use it just in the boot, or extend it to cover the 2nd row seats when they're down. I replaced the Velcro with B&Q stuff which holds much better.

Hi Blobby, I agree, that the self adhesive velcro patches holding the side of the hatchbag aren't really strong enough and to get the best adhesion, you really need to make sure that any traces of polish or silcon have been removed before sticking.
I've had mine on for two years and the boot lid section only now needs new velcro sticky pads, which I have some Heavy Duty Velcro roll, which really does stick very very well 
I find it very easy to roll up when I need the rearmost seats and it fits in nicely behind those seats when not in use.
I have to use my rear seats about once a month, so they do get plenty of use.
For me, it's been a great piece of kit and if you still have your old hatchbag you want to pass on, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands  Bodsys Brake Bible

Im more than happy with my hatchbag too ...i wouldnt be without it .
With regards to the rear seats ..dont bother with the velcro..use the attatched straps to hook round the headrest poles ..thats what i do ..keeps it all in place then G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Just bumping this up to the top again, as I'm trying to source a decent mat for sensible money.
The LR original part seems to be horribly expensive, and I've seen numerous pattern copies on ebay for the £30-40 mark which seems reasonable. I'm not carrying dogs in the car, just trying to protect the floor from yoiur normal luggage bashing and general use.
I've seen comments as to some mats giving off unpleasant rubber smells in the summer.
Following up from Ben's original query, just wandered if anyone had bought off an ebay trader for a sensible price and were happy...

I can tell you that I've not bought anything yet!
Still need to as chucking the kids crap/bikes etc is quickly making a pristine boot look very used  Elise 1
