Get hold of the cable curve behind the headlight and invert it so it bends into the engine bay as opposed to away from it. Then tuck it back into it's regular place. Works every time for me.
I still think your's is cable related as both locks are affected.

Thanks for the trust and most of all for the continous help and patience
I also think it is the B y cable and it should also be the cable before the first lockIt takes all sorts (to make a world).

Get a friend to operate the bonnet release handle with them popping the bonnet whilst you pull the handle back to it's locked position a few times. Get a WD40 type spray down the cable end whilst working it and hopefully it'll free off.
I still think it's your cable not fully returning. Mods:

I had similar problems and the cables were rusty.
I fitted a new cable and it was fine.
I also had trouble closing the bonnet once but that time i had left a cup of coffee sitting on the air filter box

I sometimes get this on nearside, lots of catch lube and cable lube seems to help and pushing the release lever forward solves for me. When i get time i think i will remove latches and cables, clean and grease. Wyn, how hard was the removal and fitting, is their a instruction somewhere to help?

I used to get an issue on my motorbike with sticky cables and I used a cable lube tool to ensure the lube gets to where it needs to go. It might be of some help? Here is a youtube video so you can see how it works - very simple, even I can use one

It was pretty straight forward with no instructions.
The cable only went as far as a connector near the FBH and not as far as the handle in the passenger side.

The one used there can only be shipped from the US and the one with only one screw seems to be less effective It takes all sorts (to make a world).

It may be worth pulling the cable out and get WD40 down it or replacement as the pictures look a bit rusty

Just add my observations that might help someone. My LH bonnet catch was not working intermittently and yesterday failed to latch at all and after trying a number of times I then screwed in the rubber stop , that made no difference.
Looking closely this morning I realized 11 years worth of spray on grease plus dust and other road debris had clogged up the pawl that latches the cam plate. It should be free to spring over and hold the cam plate in the locked position. I did a quick repair with brake cleaner and a screwdriver, cleared the rubbish away to free it and lubricated it with light oil. All now working perfectly . Plan to do a proper job and clean both sided properly but was in a rush this morning.

I had the same as above... lots of muck and grease jammed my catches, so out came the solvent based cleaner (which ever brand you prefer ) and a pokey stick, lots of wiggling the cam back and forth in between and hey prest, bob's your uncle and robert's your fathers brother, it worked again what is this life, if full of care?

Deep clean of the left anmd right lock but left was the one creating problem and also the cable before the first lock was stuck
Just annoyed I could not fix it despite all the great help from here It takes all sorts (to make a world).

My bonnet does this and it drives me insane, just the nearside and no matter how much slamming, it is a fluke if it catches. So I will take out the mechanism and give it a good clean. I dread opening my bonnet if I need to go somewhere afterwards
