Bonnet open?

I washed my D3 today, & afterwards opened the bonnet to top up the screen washer bottle, job done cosed bonnet & drove away. Bonnet waning message now keeps appearing in the display.
Have opened & closed bonnet afew times, bonnet is definitely shut.
Has anyone had this problem or is it one for the dealer under warranty?
Any help greatly appreciated

Yes I have had problems with the bonnet micro switch functioning intermittently . I sprayed it with WD40 but it was later replaced by the dealer after it started playing up again. It is at the front but I cant remember which side its located, however it should be obvious; "working" it with the bonnet open improves things for a while.

IIRC this is a fairly common problem . The bonnet switch does not like getting wet . So I suppose off to the dealer for a new one

......also

I found that if bonnet opened with Engine running a fault message will pop up with "bongs" that only clears when engine turned off.
I thought this was a faulty switch...but I can reproduce this on demand & its not that the bonnet isnt fully closed.
You would have thought the systems as complex as they are would reset by just closing the bonnet - but it doesnt seem to be the case.

Had this issue a few times, all it is is a faulty micro switch on one of the bonnet catches. Its a warranty fix. In the interim you can unplug the connector and put a paper clip into the connection plug, this replaces the switch and completes the circuit. Obviously tape the clip up to prevent a short.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Wrap a few turns of insulation tape around the right hand bonnet catch. (around the metal hoop that is attached to the bonnet)

This has the effect of pushing the micro switch down a touch harder.

Had same problem on mine when i was on holiday in Scotland.
I ended up disconnecting the sensor cable (driver side bonnet catch) and shorting it with some copper wire.
Got home and adjusted the catch (had no tools on holiday) and was fine for a shortwhile. Ended up having to goto stealers a week later for a new catch....

Mine actually HAS been opening. Doesn't seem to like locking down on the NS for some reason. Dropping it from a lot higher seems to fix it but I'm now checking left, right and middle after I open the bonnet. Still seems to work loose after about 5 miles or so, usually at around 70mph Shocked

My Alfa was subject to a recall as the bonnet catches caught the worst of the spray, salt and shi..... and wouldn't stay shut as a result.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Many thanks for all the replies. I will attempt the various suggestions made, it is the first "fault" that I have experienced with my D3 in almost 2 years of motoring, I still have that " smile" when driving, again thanks to all.

Yup - I took mine in for it's 3 rd service the other day and all that was extra was a blocked wiper jet . With my defender it was always a shopping list in addition to the service Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Sprayed catch with PTFE maintenance spray, wound some insulation tape around "U" catch on bonnet so far so good. Once again thanks for speedy release of knowledge/experience.
