In fact, the Police love it when you report a solved crime.

Deffo report to police, plus put vid on youtube and email the link to everyone in the golf club, wonder how many others have had their car keyed.
ISTR someone here had their car keyed by a neighbour a few years ago, caught on video. He (scumbag keyer) was a school governor so hopefully vid went viral around the pupils.

when you say a golfer did he scratch it with the clubs as he was putting them away or did he maliciously key the bonnet ?
for someone to do that maliciously he surely must have had a motive ? mind you if he played as crap as i did last night he would have been better off throwing the things in the river
but as others have said if a mindless act of vandalism yes you should report it to the policeMY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

Report to the police, send a copy to his gold club, put it on youtube.....
Who knows how many others this has happened too!
We had a similar incident with wing mirrors in our street, every few days the wing mirrors would be knocked off half a dozen of my neighbours cars......We installed a discrete camera on the garage wall facing down the street and caught a neighbor (drunk) walking past each car in the street and "karate chopping or kicking" the mirrors off......
Dealt with by the local constabulary with 7 counts of criminal damage against the drunken neighbour and then evicted from his council house under an anti social behaviour order......no more broken mirrors though..... G4OC Secretary

Cherokee, I feel your pain mate - Ali had her 4 week old FL2 keyed in a local car park last week. No CCTV unfortunately but the little was good enough to do just the one panel. My mate Marv, who is a valeter/detailer by trade has got most of it out but it has broken the top coat so it/s off to the body shop next week.
All I can say is, I'm glad you got it sorted, I too would report him for the criminal damage, the CCTV and his admission of guilt by settling the bill are enough for the CPS to feel confident of getting a conviction. I say let the old bill run with it. See how a conviction affects his self esteem, the w r. Also, as has been said before, if there has been a spate of other offences, then the old bill would have to investigate those too. Maybe the CCTV owner has evidence of other offences on her hard drive?
Really pleased you got it sorted fella, there's a lot of haters out there unfortunately My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

My XK came out of hibernation this last weekend.....
did some local journeys..all OK
Parked in an outlet village...took the trouble to park away from the obvious who fling thier doors open & care all about what it hits...
Came back not to realise some burke had driven in & clopped the rear fender of my car just behind the rear wheel & stripped the paint away...
Only discovered this some time after & realised when & where it had happened....
what beats me is with a whole car park to park in the plonkers drive in so close they hit my car
...may be as well I didn't see thisBREXIT - done properly.

Hi there gents, First of all thanks for all your comments,
Here's an update after ringing police, they said I did the
right thing getting my car repaired and him paying the
bill, if I had gone to them in the first place with the evidence
They would have arrested him and with his age (75) and
no previous record he would have got a caution and
slapped wrist, I could have been left with the bill, they
said now the damage has been put right it is now a
civil matter not a criminal one.
DISCODUNC no reason no apologies, never fallen out
Only bar banter and he usually starts it he is not liked
by many people now nobody likes him.
markthespark...he did it with a key or coin it was done
outside my local pub, he doesn't live in the village.
SHARKYSHARKS You got his name right cu nt!!!!!!
Thanks everybody.

Did he give any sort of explanation for his actions? Is he mental or was it a personal thing?
Brilliant result though! Well done.... And I personally would inform the golf club captain!
