Bolt ID help please....
Just took my side tubes off,and finally got round to finding the bolt I sheared....pictured is a complete one.
It inserts into the chassis hole and wedges, allowing the nut to tighten...can anyone tell me what it's called so I can order a replacement please ?

Agree with the above.
All you need to know is what size thread, then get a new bolt - cut the head off where the non threaded part is.
From here, you have 2 options, either drill your old bolt out of the fitting you snapped and then weld the bolt in from behind and then grind the repair flat, or you can replace the flat bar as well, but the process is the same.
A fabricator could knock this up in minutes for you, if you do not have the kit to weld this yourself.

It's a 7mm thread.......so I think the fabricating option is a possibility.....
No issues with getting the broken bit out,its in the box section of my chassis member
Boatyard and boat builders round the corner,I'll see what they can knock up.....cheers "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Could you replace it with a M7 x 1.0mm? Any pictures of this fitted to the rail?GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

Sure it's not a worn M8, M7 is quite an odd size if they are non oem side tubes. Have you checked the thread pitch?

I did use a vernier caliper......I think maybe the suggestion it has worn down from an M8 may be the answer...it took a fair bit of force to get the nut off, even though I copper-slipped them when I put them on.
There is a square washer that goes between the bracket and the car to stop rust-bonding and I remember it needed screwed down the length of the bolt......ive just measured the hole in the washer,it is 8mm and the bolt goes on easier than it did "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Rather than try to measure, try an M8 bolt through the old nut, or an M8 nut on the old stud!
At the end of the day does it actually make a difference so long as you have the correct sized nut to fit the new one with?Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

No it doesn't particularly matter what size,as there is plenty of adjustment room in both the bracket hole and the chassis hole....I just wondered if the bolt had a "name" for ordering purposes.....
I think,as has been suggested, getting one made would be the best bet......and if I take it to the boatyard I could get a whole new set made out of 316 "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

If it's off Bearmach side tubes, they dont sell them separatly, I used an 8mm zebedee and 8mm threaded rod, zebedee's can be got from ducting companies, alternatly let me have your address and I'll send you a zebedee.

A "Zebedee" will not work in this case, as I have the same ham shaped fists as Euan
I have 100's of these fixings too but they will not drop into the hole in the chassis hence the L shape of the one in Euans piccie
Grinding one side off won't work either as it makes the threaded part of the zeb too weak to take a load.

Euan, they are the same tubes as I have and a zebedee worked for me.
