body lift chassis to body spacers |
|
hey guys,
as more and more discoverys are getting modded it seems and the quest to add larger tyres is often achieved through lift rods, magic electronic boxes.etc
I just thought..
has anyone tried a body lift?
by body lift I mean adding spacers to seperate the chassis farther from the body.(some mk1/2 have this done)
pic is a kit for defender

is it practical on the disco? we have seen many pics of the disco apart from its chassis and it seems like a good chance to pop an extra inch into the body height.
a body lift would retain original suspension geometry (no extra stress on shafts)and full air range operation (unlike rods). and allow the fitment of larger tyres without the rubbing if something sinks (and also inprove approach and depart angles by a tad) sills are farther away from scrapes.( and maybe able to squeeze the 4.4tdv8 under the bonnet..just wishing )
so is it possible??? (I know its illegal someplaces)
I know the disco3/4 chassis may not really be a full chassis like the mk1/2and depends somewhat on the ridgidity of the body.
thoughts? It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

You had me all excited for a minute there, they only do Discovery and RR (in LR), the Defender body is a collection of pieces built onto the chassis so would take a whole lot more than a few spacers. Joined the BMWX5 45e group
