Bodsey brake bible

I've previously changed the discs and pads on my old disco3 a couple of times and adjusted the handbrake, found bodsey s guide very useful.
Had my d4 now 2 years and it's coming up 3 yrs old and 26000 miles, looks like it will need rear discs and pads first, which is in line with what I've read here.
My question is can I use bodsey bible for the d4? I'm sure you've been asked before Ian.
I've found out how to put the car into neutral and keep it there. So I can turn the hubs to adjust the handbrake.

What I'd also like to know is how do I put the EPB into service mode, same as before? Or do you need a computer?
And having changed discs, does the "old" procedure for bedding in the EPB work on the d4.? E.g.
Start engine
Press brake pedal on and off 3 times and hold down on third press.
Pull EPB switch up 4 times and down 3 times

Hope someone who has already done this will be along to help.
Steve

Hi Dunton10

What did you end up doing in the end? Obd2/Computer to wind back epb or manually alter the ratchet on the brake caliper?

Thanks

Sorry for delay in replying, I’ve been away on holybobs.
In the end the old d3 procedure as in bodsey bible worked for me.
Didn’t have to use OBD just put epb into service mode and wound back ratchet on rear discs to remove them.
Having cleaned contact points I regressed handbrake shoe contact points with Ceratec grease, refitted new discs and pads and then reset handbrake using bodsey guidance.
You have to lock the gearbox in neutral however to enable you to rotate the hubs to set correctly.
Then used Handbrake bedding in procedure.
All has been well since.

The LR4 has traditional callipers so no electric wind back.

I'm assuming you are refering to the normal braking rear calipers do not need winding back electronically as they do not incorporate the Parking Brake.

The D4 has the same Drum in Disc Electric Parking brake setup as the D3, so has all the same issues.

The EBP should be wound back and set up electronically, but you can get away without.

Thanks.
I would rather use a obd port electronic tool.
Can anyone recommend one? Foxwell make a dedicated epb service tool . anyone used it for D4 ? As the family have 3 cars with epb a small outlay will recoup initial purchase price of the tool..

I have heard of Hawkeye and Blackbox solutions but these do other functions that might justify their higher purchase price, but not needed by me?
