Bluetooth Phone (PTI?)

Hi folks - I am finally going to get my hands on a Disco after 'browsing' for a couple of years - I have my eye on a Jan 2005 HSE. I was hoping to find out how you tell if it has the LR bluetooth integration installed and if it has, do you need any other hardware to connect to a bluetooth phone - otherwise I will get the dealer to install a 3rd party setup for me before I collect.

Thanks

Not sure if they are all the same, but the O5 HSE I looked at hadn't got the bluetooth installed.
D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

Welcome TG! I've got a late '04 HSE and the manual says that only certain bluetooth phones will "talk" to it but the later phones with bluetooth that I have tried all seem to work. Remember though that it is only a basic setup and the car won't display address book etc. TBH I don't mind and, as been mentioned on here, there seem to be quite a few issues with the integrated setup.
The initial setup to recognise the phone is quite easy too so all in all you should be pretty happy with the system.

Enjoy Very Happy

Age (and drink) has dulled my brain, but the PTI was optional on the early D3 if I recall correctly. HSEs did not come with this as standard. So, check the steering wheel for the PTI paddles on the right hand side of the wheel.

That said, whilst basic the D3 Bluetooth is actually quite robust.

PTI proper became available in vehicles built from around April 2005.

Thanks for the super speedy responses folks - Simon, do you know how I can tell if the PTI is installed i.e. is there some knob / switch / indicator or large comedy arrow pointing at it?

Phone buttons on right hand side of steering wheel will give the game away

I've got the dealer fit version of the LR PTI, no complaints at all but it is very expensive (if you paid full price) so I'd suggest fitting a Parrot kit or similar if your D3 doesn't have a kit already

Thank you - I will go a-hunting tomorrow for said paddles. If not, it looks like one of the Parrot systems is the way to go then.

Cheers
