So you ordered the spare parts (cradle base & antenna) for the factory fit PTI, eh? nigel, you are a brave man. I wouldn't keep my hopes up in making your original dealer fit "kit" version work like the factory version on the IHU. If it was a simple tweak, there would be no reason for LR to have a dealer kit PTI that is less capable than the factory version. But who knows... I wish you the best of luck! If you can really pull this off, there will be many happy owners.
At the very least you can get charging and an external antenna working.

Grommet,
Yep that was my worst case scenario, a built in cradle with charging, and the external antenna which is sooo needed in my car.
There is one problem of course if I cant get the disp[lay on the head unit, how will I know who is calling me and drop the calls to people I do not want to speak to

Hi nigel, and welcome back. Hope CA is not too traumatic for you. Sometimes the grass is greener elsewhere.
Anyway. when my car was replaced back in May, I had the opportunity to get the factory fitted kit installed.
I use this very simply without cradle but bluetooth connected to a Sony Ericcson P910. The phone lives in one of the drinks holders and I havnt lost a call.
I think the coice recognition system is quite as good as the old car but voice dialing works fine, as does ICE unit dialling and phone dialing.
It was a bit of a bummer that the directory was wiped by the garage when the suspension compressor was fitted but I only had a few numbers. I will take care on this in the future. So in summary, its OK for me with a non-listed phone.

Hi DiscoMad,
Thanks for the reply.
From your description it sounds like you can dial from the IHU without having the phone in the cradle, I tought that was not supported.
Cabn you tell me the versions of s/w on your IHU and the Main sat nav screen please?
Thanks,

Guys,
Can you take a look at the picture of the connector on the roof antenna, and try to identify the type for me please.
I would like to know where to buy the connectors too, so any ideas welcome.
If anyone knows where I could buy the complete coax cable with connectors at both ends, that would be ideal.
Thanks in advance.

nigel, factory installed system doesn't support the following without Cradle: phone book, call log, signal strength display (and, of course, charging and antenna.) Keypad is supported.

Now this is getting more interesting.
When playing with my steering wheel buttons for the phone yesterday I got a bleep.
Having then consulted the manual, ( in the software business myself i never RTFM!) I read that with the phone in the cradle, and bluetooth off, that how to get the system to recognise the phone.
And geuss what, it works, now even with the BT off, I get the phone working in the cradle, voice dialing etc works.
But no display in the IHU sadly!!
Also when you press the green button quickly, or the button for the phone on the IHU, it still says no phone fitted in the IHU display.
Still onwards and upwards.
Also still waiting for you guys with integrated phones to tell me what your IHU and Nav Screen setting versions of software are?
Any updates welcomed.
Thanks,

Have just had LR bluetooth retrofitted... all works well with the dealers Sony Ericsson (some small model), but my SE is a P900. I note here that someone works OK with a P910... has anyone got a P900 working with this system.
I think it may be a hassle with the phone model. Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

The bluetooth implementation on a P900 is the same as a P910, major differences are cosmetic and some of the applications updated
Should work fine!

Thats what I thought too but my Sony Eric helpline guy (who was very interested in what I was trying to do and not interested in selling me a new phone).... looked up the specs for each phone while I was talking to him and confirmed the difference.... I will recheck Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

The 'supported' list applies to full integration.. i.e. with a docking cradle
The SE610 is supported and also has the same BT implementation as the P900 /P910 - I've checked on the SE developers site

The "supported" list does list a few approved Bluetooth only phones.

grommet wrote:The "supported" list does list a few approved Bluetooth only phones. Yep, the rest are basically 'suck it and see..' Given that the system is developed by Nokia, they seem to have the worst fail rate on BT compatability *generally* SE products are pretty stable and conform to the BT standard closer than most

Interesting BT stuff around SE 900 and 910, I still cannot get p900 to work. I am not using the cradle though. Have also checked another p900 with same results. Will try and lay my hands on a p910 andsee what happens... not doubting anyone you understand...Ha Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

Nigel - sorry I have been very busy lately hence no version info - but will do that for you.
Rich - Sorry you doubt me ! but my P910 works well as described earlier.
I must say though, I heard that the BT implementation in the P910 is different to the P900. There has been lots of history of problems with BT car kits and the P900 (well BT in general really).
Take a look at the forums on this site; www.siocommunications.co.uk
So are you saying I can get a cradle for my P910 ??? interseting
