Blowing Brake Lights

Hey Guys

Has anyone experienced brake light bulb failure on the TDV6??

Mine blow so often - left hand bulb mostly - that I carry a few new bulbs in the back storage box along with a screw driver ready for the next change!!

I have had the occasion where a bulb can last a full day without blowing!!

Same here, in fact it's that bad I have wired in the spare filaments in the fog lamp bulbs, so I now have a potential of 4 brake lights. It actually has cut down the blowing of the bulb as well.

Bulbs from local motor factors blow easily -get your supplies from the local stealer and they last better Wink

Halfords do "extreme use" ones too, we have had none blow since we went over to them

I seem to be going through nearside brake lights every 6 weeks or so, no idea why
I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

I also get through a drivers side brake light bulb about once every 3 months, and would love to know why.

Might see if I can get some of the 'Extreme use' ones mentioned to see if they help.

Had one blow for no apparent reason after an offroading weekend over a year ago.

Local dealer mentioned that very often it's the vibrations that shatter the filament. I had ordered replacement 360 degree LEDs anyway - never had a problem (on or off-road since).

If they blow in normal conditions though I'd be inclined to search for a chaffed wire shorting something? Remember the well documented fog-light fuse burns which were a result of a bad design in their loom position? Whistle

Gents, you need to replace both sides with new bulbs when one side blows. If you have worn bulb on one side and a new one on the other, the resistance and consequently current drain causes another to blow.
 Near enough 40 degrees South!!!
