Bloody park brake fault now :-(
Hi all,
Just had the air compressor unit and park brake switch replaced to resolve a very annoying transmission fault, and now I'm getting a park brake fault when the engine is cold. I pull away and the radio goes on and off and if the head lamps are on they dim intermittently like I'm flashing someone. This last about 30 seconds and then everything goes back to normal. I've had the AA out and they replaced a brake light bulb and tightened up a lose connection on the battery. However that sadly didn't reset the issue. The AA have now cleared the codes and im due in the garage tomz but can any of you guys or gals steer me in the right direction for a possible resolve so at least I sound knowledgeable when at the garage lol. Thanks all?

I have a similar issue, radio and satnav going on & off, and I am starting to believe its a bad earth between the body and engine. I have run a temporary lead direct from the negative on the battery to the engine & it was OK on first start up from cold but I need to try a few more mornings to see if had solved the problem

Thanks for the reply. It's just really strange how it does it on a cold engine and then once warm it doesn't happen. If it was a connection issue I would have expected the issue to crop up with the engine cold and warm on start ups

My thoughts on that are that the starter is pulling a lot of current on a cold start plus heater plugs etc is making the voltage drop even higher and causing the errors.

That's a fair a point to be fair and would explain the issues on a cold engine. Well I'm on my way to the garage this morning so I'll let you know what they say. Thanks
wonder if it a combination - bad earth that has caused the alternator to misbehave when cold?Pete

Hi again, you wouldn't believe what happened today on way to the garage, only the transmission fault reappeared, talk about timing!!! So I get to the garage, I kept the car running and they put it straight on the ramps with the faults lighting up the dash board. They came back and said the error codes are pointing to an electrical fault and could also explain the park brake fault issue. So they replaced the park brake switch firstly and asked i test drive it. Sadly the fault reappeared but this time it was accompanied with the ABS warning light. Next course of action is its going back in and the main electrical points are going to be tested and replaced if showing signs of wear or corrosion. In short no answer as yet but will keep you posted

I have had the exact same started over the last few days. Headlights flashing, radio on but no volume / volume control not working.
