Bleeding the coolant system

I’m going to change that silly plastic coolant connector/distributor on the front of my tdv6 at the weekend. Is bleeding the coolant system on these as simple as filling up with the bleed screw on the expansion tank cracked open then running to temp and checking?

You will lose some coolant when you replace this plastic connector

Open bleed valves at engine block and coolant tank, then add coolant to expansion tank until it fills to the high mark on tank, I then close the bleed valve at coolant tank,
Then I gently blow into the coolant tank until coolant comes out of the engine bleed valve.

Then I top up the cool tank again.

Run you engine for a while, making sure you can see a constant stream of coolant returning to the coolant tank.

I also open the bleed valve at the engine again (engine going) to make sure no air is trapped

Turn engine off and check coolant level again.

Thumbs Up

In theory you need to warm the engine up enough so the thermostat opens, to the heater bank, but this should not be needed as you Didnt drain all the coolant out of the block.

Probably won’t need bleeding for that.

Just leave the small pipe off while you tip the system up and then fit it
When coolant starting Corning out

 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
