Bleed Low Pressure Fuel System - TDV6 2.7

To bleed the low pressure fuel system on the TDV6 2.7 is says to connect a special tool (rubber hose with special endings) to the fuel rail and run the fuel pump until there are no air bubbles.

I assume this special hose has a one way valve at the end of it that allows fuel out but stops air getting in. Also I assume at the end that connects to the fuel rail, there is an end that screws on like a air line being connected to the tyre valve when pumping up a tyre.

Those who do their own work on their cars - what do you do to bleed the system without this special tool???

Thanks

Garry

under the engone cover on the feeding fuel pipe (above oil filter on driver side)
You can find the bleeder connector (like the tyre valve)
unscrew the cap turn ignition on and press the valve (like you would like deflate tyre)
do it few times if need (when diesel starts to flow without air bubles -job done)
easy and quick however bit messy you will spill a bit of fuel
You can use a tyre inflate connector and fuel hose and do it nice and clean Thumbs Up

Or you can cycle the ignition on and off several times to let the system purge itself.

If you use the valve to speed things up a rag wrapped around the pipe is sufficient to catch the fuel.

Thanks for the responses - I have an extension air hose so that should fit and I can drain the excess fuel away from the car.

Cheers
