I changed my front brake pads today (30 mins per side) - the instructions in Bodsy's gallery are top notch; thanks for all that contributed to them My Shiny Moose jack adapter is also the dogs
I just wanted to add a tip to this; my local DIY store had coppergrease in a spraycan. It's inspired! You can spray the backs of the pads and the spring clips with a really light coating without any overspray ending up on the pad surface. I also sprayed the contact area inside the alloy wheel to stop it corroding to the hubs. I gave the steering lock stops a quick squirt whilst I was at it and didn't once get the Midas finger.
I also fitted a D-ring to the upper bolt of the lower tailgate spring pulley. I keep a lot of kiddie cr@p in the back, and was unhappy that it was difficult to secure the load in the back as for some unfathomable reason, LR didn't include high level retaining points. My V40 has a seatbelt type restraining strap built in, yet LR only provided floor D-rings. Weird. I had been using the third row seatbelt as a partial solution, but my fuel can has frayed it Now I have a high level D-ring I can stop everything sliding around and my replacement seatbelt won't get destroyed Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

hi Jim'I've get a "Petzden" carrier.I think it is the largest one available and facing towards the rear door I reckon that two could be fitted side by side. They are made of heavy duty canvas .and fold flat when not in use.Much better than a cage as they dont rattle and keep all the dog snot and hair out the car. They are well ventilated. If interested just use google to find stockist.I bought mine a year ago and use it regularly with no probs.Hope this helps.

Be very careful using copper grease spray on brake pads as it impregnates the friction material and squeals when brakes get warm. Can also cause juddering when braking Much safer to use the tubes or tub of copperslip
