Specific reference to bio-diesel was made in the RHD markets Owner's Manuals for 2004, 2005 and 2006 but the 2007 manual says on p188
"The maximum allowable Bio-diesel mix is 5%, meeting EN 590 specification."
Now to my way of thinking, my engine is still the same engine that has been in 2004-2006 manufactured models therefore the new info regarding bio-diesel should apply. Especially with the enhancement upgrade recently applied.
If anyone else has other information, please advise.
Regrettably, a local manufacturer has decided to produce a 20% biodiesel, so that is out of the equation for me.

Hi Peter
If you mean the LR enhancement - I live in Brisbane but the car is serviced on the Gold Coast. It went in to have a lower glove box catch replacement and they did the enhancement at that time. I was able to detect a little more response at low speeds (possibly turbo lag reduced) but the biggest change has been lower fuel consumption.
Religiously, I have kept a record of the fuel consumption and it shows (for similar driving conditions) that the amount used is about 10.5 l/100 km compared with 11.64 for the period from purchase in Jan 06 to early July.
I have not noticed any noiser engine as some posters have mentioned, nor have I noticed any differences in overtaking. It was quite acceptable even before the enhancement.
The big PLUS for me was the loss of prominent black soot when driving away from stop signs/lights and staying with the traffic flow. That has gone.
If you meant an LRTuning type enhancement, I haven't had that done, so I can't comment.
Get the enhancement done as soon as possible because there are many other things that are attended to, including checking the rear struts' mounts. They Loctite 'em if necessary.

I picked up my TDV6 on Friday (June 06 build). The Owners Handbook says not suitable for Biodiesel, but the Warranty booklet indicates warranty won't apply if more than 5% mix.....
I haven't seen Biodiesel readily available at my usual haunts yet, and I figure the occasional use of a low volume mix shouldn't be a problem.D3 (06) SE TDV6, Rear Locker, Rear Air, ARB bar w/winch, Safari Snorkel, 110l aux fuel tank, Kaymar rear bar (twin wheel carrier), Black Widow rear storage system, Rhino rack, GME UHF, Codan HF, IPF HID lights, CSA Explorer 17" w/BFG Mud Terrain KM2 - see Australian 4WD Monthly #103

Sorry - off subject
Hi catweasel - my car seemed to take forever to get through the bond store but once clear it took about a week before she was in my hands.
Be patient, as you have probably gathered from the DISCO3 site, it is worth the wait.

yeah, patience is a virtue my old man used to say, but seeing as I have none.............
my dealer knows why it's important to me to have the car by a certain date and I thought they'd keep you better informed. getting info sometimes is like pulling teeth and you think if it's in the country they'd have some idea of arrival (insurance to organise, plane ticket to purchase, day off work to be organised etc). I did order in April but since it's my first 4x4 and first new car makes it all the much harder
dealer will be getting (another) call tommorrow.

B5 (5% Biodiesel 95% diesel), is supported by any diesel engine sold in Europe. Some European (EU) counties already enforce the 5% Biodiesel to be added to diesel by default, and it will be compulsory sometime in the future.
The main problems with BD are:
The fuel circuit from the deposit to the engine must be 100% of synthetic rubber (BD corrodes natural rubber), so all components, including pumps, must not have any component that uses natural rubber.
The other main problem is viscosity of the fuel in low temperatures. Becoming thicker means some parts of the fueling system may not be conveniently lubricated, leading to problems in the long term.
Most problems in using BD without care only arrive after many Kms.
Typically LR would jump at the opportunity in having their cars use ‘greener’ Bio Fuels (BioDiesel, BioEthanol...). I believe that it will come in the near future, with the 2.7 V6 and 3.6 V8 diesel engines (the new RR V8 Diesel has basically the same engine technology), and that only minor changes, if any will be necessary.
While Ford is ‘proudly’ announcing the Flexible Fuel engine that will run on BioEthanol ou Petrol indiscriminately, this technology has existed in Brazil for years now, and it has been proven that cars running on E85 (85% Bioethanol 15% Petrol), and B80 (80% BD 20% Dielsel), have better MPG and performance than the 100% Fossil fuel counterparts using the same engines. The problem is more of a ‘Political’ nature, because the technology exists...
