Hi, my first post so hello forum!
I've had my 2016 Discovery 4 for 3 years now and it's been a great car. I do a lot of mileage but service it 3 to 4 times a year and it seems to keep it running well.
I'm keen to keep the car as there's just nothing (affordable) out there to replace it. But there are 2 things that have always bothered me, brakes and infotainment.
With regards to the brakes I'm sure I've seen some videos of a big brake conversion using 380mm discs, is this the best option to improve the braking. In an old Saab 9-5 I had I upgrades the discs and callipers and hoses and it made a massive difference.
Any suggestions for brake improvement would be amazing.
I'll post about the infotainment in that space.

I don't have the answer to your question, but wanted to ask why you feel the brakes need an upgrade? I would say the standard brakes on my MY16 model car are probably the best of any car we've had. Very happy with them, even fully loaded. I don't tow though, so can't comment on performance whilst doing that.
Cheers Gary

Welcome to the forum!
I do concur that the brakes are rightfully sized for the application.
If you are over heating the brakes, (can’t image how unless off road you are not using low) assist it by using engine brakes and trailer brakes… 2015 LR4 HSE Lux Aintree Green

You could try changing the discs to a grooved or drilled type and upgrade the pads to EBC Green Stuff or similar ? I've done that to my D4 (I do tow and it's not flat round here!) and it does stop better, for the full monty though you'd need to consider upgrading to Brembo six pots (from an RRS) with 380mm disks but that's a lot more time and money !
As others have said though, for normal driving the brakes are quite adequate.. I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I like my brembos…. but they require more maintenance.
The perspective on Green Stuff (or Red) is interesting. Better? I find their marketing as clever as K&N…. they are better, in their own mind. I haven’t seen empirical evidence nor experienced the gains they claim.
6 pots on an LR4…. overkill, isn’t it? For clearances wouldn’t you have to move up a size in the wheels? 2015 LR4 HSE Lux Aintree Green

I'd agree that for normal driving the brakes are more than capable.
I did consider going down the big brake route on my D4 for when I'm towing my boat.
Loaded with Camping and diving gear it can get up over 3tns, and I thought anything can help.
On my D3, I upgraded to the bigger V8 discs and Caliper carriers, which I believe are the same size as all D4s have anyway, and I did see a marked improvement, particularly when towing.
But, I have to admit I didn't inform my insurance company like I should have done.
In recent years I've become more aware that insurance companies are getting more and more hot on undeclared modifications being used as an excuse not to pay out a claim in the event of an accident, and of course modified brakes, even if you are making them better than standard, is a definite one to declare.
So before I changed the brakes on the D4 I decided to consult my insurers, who said they would have to decline insurance. At the time I did get another couple of quotes, but they were far more expensive than I was paying, so gave up on the project. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

20" required as a minimum for the 6 pot upgrade, quite a few on here have done it and think it's a good improvement... as regards EBC pads, I find they make less dust but this has been argued time and time again on here very much down to driving style etc I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... Interesting. I never thought about insurance when it comes to improving braking performance.
I have wondered about "performance" pads but I thought they were often squeaky and dusty so it put me off.
