Beware of latest v3 firmware failing.

Although firmware 3 has progressed it has one major failing IMHO, should you find yourself like me you can’t turn the ignition on for whatever reason your very expensive Iid tool WILL NOT Censored WORK!

As a standalone thread, can you explain a little further?
Are you saying not to update the GAP tool?

Yes, if for ANY reason you cannot switch your engine on which I can't at the moment the tool will not work, see my other post what's more you cannot go back to an older version of software which will work without switching the engine on, make a mockery of the SS button. Big Cry

I can't switch Ignition on that is the fault I have, SS button not working, upgraded Iid tool to latest firmware version and first thing it says is "switch engine on".
Please see my other post.

Big Cry So how do I get the button to operate?-tried everything I can think of. What does the button operate? - solenoid, relay, module.
What's more why did the old firmware that I had on the Iid tool work and run when the on/off Switch did not work ?- I don't know what version as I haven't updated the Iid tool for a long time and it did not include the fuel tank senders, that's why I updated it and I can't revert back to it. Bow down

Good idea I’m on to it. :bow:although when I try to connect and the program states “switch ignition on” it tries to switch the ignition on automatically, a few seconds later another option pops up to “send email” to pat@gap this is followed by the program it uses to switch the engine on but it tries over and over until I exit the procedure and then click on send email, but I have had no response yet and will try and make contact direct. Thumbs Up

That WaxOil treatment is certainly saving you from any mileage-related corrosion. Whistle

I don't think it would have worked fully without the ignition on

I'd need to have a look at the wiring diagram, but if the button is OK, it could be a KVM/BCM/Immo issue

New button fitted, all fuses checked and double checked, earth strap checked, brake light switch replaced, tank senders “A” and “B” checked for continuity under rear near side wheel arch, battery 13.5 volts tested on battery.
Interior lights, LR logo on screen, remote locks, radio, alarm, mirrors, hazards all work nothing else Big Cry First sign something was wrong when fuel mileage registered “—-“ miles left and I knew there was 1/4 tank, switched engine off not started since, since put 5ltr in out of desperation.
So the big question is, why doesn’t the ignition switch on?- what stops it from switching on?- what does the stop/start switch operate?- relay, solenoid, module, ecm?

Maybe not but it is used to being garaged at night not stuck out in all the elements and you don’t get the same respects from other drivers driving a Yetti as you do Discovery Laughing

If its an auto, how about the interlock to prevent a start whilst in gear?
Ours is a D3 so little different to D4.

Would still bring them ignition on, just wouldn't crank

What does the dash say when you press the button? Nothing at all, or does it say it can't find the key?
