Is there a minimum period of time you need to be in manual mode

I find about 15 minutes on a road that requires lot of changes is all it needs.

What you are basically doing is resetting the adaptions
It like the box software having to relearn your driving habits again

I do find just driving in manual every now and then seems to help. I think it helps to wake up the learning in the gearbox and reset it. It's as if it stops learning after a while and just sticks.
I have also seen the mpg do the same if not reset it just seems to get a figure and stay there.
But was pleased to see the mpg clicking round on my trip to Scotland. I did check it at the pump and was about 34 mpg.

Very Impressive!

I drive 250 mile round trip each end of the weekend to pick my daughter up for the weekend and often see 40-41 mpg in my TDV6

Or as we like to call them MPG displays , lie-o- meters Rolling with laughter

Must admit on a run I’ll get between 30-32Mpg doing the tank refill calcs and for such a heavy motor shaped like a house brick I’m extremely pleased getting that kind of mileage

I’m located in the US and have the V8 petrol auto configuration. Mine doesn’t shift automatically in auto. It just revs up and up… can this still be done?

To get more from the D3's auto simply put the Terrain Response into Sand mode whilst driving around built-up areas and traffic lights and enjoy the ride.

Don't blame me if your fuel economy takes a dive though!

And no, that is not the reason for me being on the third engine; blame original engine design and not enough monitoring of 'plastic' engine parts on my behalf...

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)
