Any more feedback on these?

I need to replace the Goodyear Wrangler HP All-weather that came on my D4.
Mainly road use, but want all-season for annual ski trip and I drag a heavy boat trailer up slipways. Any advice welcome, as I’ve read a few threads here and just getting more confused. Cheers Thumbs Up

Just got back from a ski trip in Italy... In a word, superb. We had at least 50cm of fresh snow and the AT+ were impressive to say the least. No issues when driven sensibly no matter how deep or slippery. Road noise is negligible compared to the the Wrangler HP's.

I am not sure about MPG... I averaged 17mpg @ 80mph with a roof rack and RAI so it might have gone down a bit.

Thanks for the reply, and they sound great although 17mpg sounds high.
My D3 did similar with a 3T, twin-axle trailer on the back, although not at 80!

Impressive that the AT+ are quiet too, as I’d have expected them to be noisier as more off-road orientated. The Pirelli website calls them the replacement for ATR, but they appear more extreme. Cheers

@dragonfly28

I've had Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus since october 2018, more than 30.000 Km, I use it on road, on the rock, on mud...
Very good tires with snow flake and side wall in kevlar double layer.

Thanks for all the advice on various threads. I went for a set of Pirelli ATR, partly as the AT+ appears designed with greater off-road bias.

Time will tell, but so far so good. Early impressions are they are a little noisier than Wrangler HPs but not intrusively so, and on first motorway trip it just averaged 30mpg @ 70mph cruise Very Happy

As seems traditional in these threads, here's a pile of rubber:

Curve ball - I have Cooper Weathermasters on my Full Fat. Winter tyres. Been superb all year and especially in cold temps....they look good too with the chunky tread Thumbs Up

I'll second this recommendation for a winter tyre

Had them on my D3, and they were superb. Then sold them with a Range Rover Sport, which were run all through summer, without any abnormal wear or issues

So good, in fact, I put them on my FL2 as well Thumbs Up

A little bit of Scorpion AT+ feedback. I have a set on my RRS SDV6 in 255/55/19. Been happy with them on road, no snow/ice use yet. Have been helping look after some sheep for a mate. It just involves driving around checking on them. With the wet weather we've had, the ground is very wet - when walked on, there is often water coming up around the sole of the boot.

The AT+ has done very well considering the conditions. Sopping wet grass is as grippy as ice quite often. The tyres are causing obvious tracks in the grass, as might be expected. I have only once had to back off and have a run at a section where there is a pair of tyre tracks through a gate. Very wet and muddy and as you get back on to the grass there is a slight rise. Perfect conditions to be "challenging" as the tyres easily spin up on the rise on to the wet grass above. The tracks are getting longer each time I drive that way - the grass is being pulled from the mud below. I hope my mate isn't too bothered by it!

Using Terrain Response in various modes, the RRS has got around pretty well with just the one "oops" moment. Bearing in mind that the tyres are pretty much half worn, I've been happy - if a bit fingers crossed at times.

Hopefully these aren't the words that tempt fate...
