Hi again all...so I should probably be a bit clearer. Here goes...

I want a fixed tow bar. I pull a boat trailer 750kg, a stock trailer 2000kg, small 7x4 car trailer and in a few months a camping trailer 750kg that I'm making.

What's the best fixed tow bar option for a D4 that doesn't act like a plough, cos I have the plough on it since I bought it. And yes, the plough has never stopped the jeep off road, the engine is too strong. but, it just feels wrong. Call me old fashioned but I'd rather not drag the tail through the ground.

I'm leaning towards the G4 one, but waiting to see if they'll ship it to me.

Does anyone have experience of the Frontrunner tow bar or Rhino receiver hitch?

Thanks

Not type approved in UK, not that I have heard of any comeback. The rules for M1 & N1 classes are different though

on a commercial vehicle a type approved hitch is not required but on a non commercial it should be type approved - that said the waters muddy if its a genuine but non type approved like a JLR receiver hitch or even if you are using a type approved coupling like a clearly marked nato jaw.
Basically EU rules on couplings are somewhat backward compared t the rest of the world and are based on accepting that the 50mm ball system is outdated and poor and will fail so they spend time focussing on how to stop a detached trailer, unlike Oz and the US where the assumption is that a decent coupling is produced and the trailer also uses a secondary strong attachment so will stay with the towing vehicle whatever happens.

I know which one makes sense to me and its not the EU version of events.
