thats a bit like asking "who would you like to sleep with"
On 20's, 295/45x20 General Grabber UHP's seem to be a good choice, as do Contintental Cross Contact in the same size. I've got Yokohama Advan ST's on mine, seem very sticky.
I'll let someone else comment on tyres for 18's

295 45 20's.......whats the better ...the continentals or the generals......the generals seem to be priced up abit more than the contis...does this make them a better tyre?

I've ran 20" Cross Contacts in the past, now running Grabbers.
My Conti's had a 40 profile whereas my Grabbers have a 45.
The Grabber gives a much more cushioned ride.
[but don't know if that is down to the profile difference]
The Grabber is a nice soft grippy rubber BUT gives very long life.
Mine have only worn down by 1.5mm over the last 15k miles.
[from new at 8.5mm to 7mm]
I'd go with Grabbers any day!!
[mine will be up for sale in a couple of weeks - after 1st refusal is given to another member - if interested pm me]
btw, General Grabber is owned by Continental.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

thanks for tips but it made me think about the tire clearance on it's side when using 295's on the disco3....

There's no real extra strain on suspension.
The load is spread inwards as well as outwards.
The wheel you use is important in determining potential rubbing issues.
Rubbing generally happens on the uprights.
Aint' got no issues with mine as you can see by the pic.

G'day there, i just recently put 20s on my HSE and very happy with them. Ronp and others helped with tyre size selection and the 295/45/20 gives the right circumference to keep speedo calibration right - but low sidewalls relatively speaking.
I was unable to locate the General Grabbers in Australia but was able to get a Nexen Rodian HP in the size noetd above. i am happy with these tyres, although they've only done a couple of thousand kays so far. Have a look at these, they were keenly priced but I am unsure if they're available where you are.
Being a convict, i dont recognise the flag.
