Best replacement H7 headlight bulbs *new: and sides?*

Dipped bulb has blown, so thinking about changing a pair for something a bit better.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm thinking about either the Osram Night Breaker Plus at about £11 a pair, or the Philips X-Treme vision at £19.50 per pair. Are the Philips worth nearly twice the price of the Osrams?

Is there anything else I should consider?

Should I use the new bulbs for dipped or main beam - or just 'splash out' and by 2 pairs and change them all?

Thanks

Currently I have standard bulbs and this has always been on my mind to change them. But every time when i am driving when its dark, I see many vehicles on the opposite side that have very very bright dim lights and they dazzle me.

Do the Philips do the same?

Thanks for any comments

I have the phillips, just in dipped beam at present, I don't think they dazzle anyone (no one has flashed me) and they do seem better

Got them in both high & low beam in my BM and high beam in the D3 xenons, very please with the improvement over OEM. No dazzling and light's a good bit whiter than standard. At £20 a set it's pretty cheap mod. Smile

Does that mean that the low and high beam use the same bulbs H7?

Excuse my xenon ignorance, but why do you need a halogen bulb for high beam with xenons? I'd always assumed they were an either/or.

The xenons have a shutter mechanism which switches the xenon bulb between dipped and main. In addition to that, you also have the main beam bulb in another aperture. This is the one that remains halogen and why these lights are typically referred to as "Bi-Xenon".

Thanks Steve - hadn't realised that. So, presumably, the halogn is supplimentary to the xenon, rather than the main source of light on main beam.

Why does one thing always lead to another with these cars?!

If I'm going to do all 4x H7 bulbs (probably with the Osrams given the fact I can replace them twice for same price as Philips) - is it worth doing the side lights at the same time? And, if so, with what?

LEDs are the way to go. All the information you need in the post above. Thumbs Up

I have these in mine and they are ace:

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/501-led-bulb-long-...white.html

If you have halogen bulbs then you probably want a warmer white light in your sidelights so I would recommend you go for the 4000K ones rather than the 5000K or 6000K. I have 5000K ones which are good colour match for the xenons.
