Beam direction for continental driving |
|
I am told that all I need to do is go under the bonnet and flick a switch and the beam will adjust accordingly D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

NoDosh, did you bother changing yours in the end. I'm thinking of driving from Midlands, to Paris, to Barcelona, to Lyon and then Milan before driving back through Switzerland.
Hoping to have disco full of red wine and Desperado's for the journey home....... Bodsys Brake Bible

I didn't. First time I've not changed the beam on a car when driving on the continent and nobody seemed to have a problem. Biggest ball ache for me is that I have the headlamp protectors so it takes 5 minutes longer, which can seem like a lifetime when they call your boarding at Ashford and you still have half the front of the car lying on the ground.
Oddly, when we took the L200 over last year we got flashed all the time, and that was with beam deflectors and with the beam adjuster set to take account of the load in the rear. Go figure. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

have a look at the pattern in the dark as it is; it is surprsingly symmetrical already i think even with the "righthand" bias!!!! end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

SPotter is, er, Spot On. There's very little difference in light pattern, just a slight extension of the beam pattern upwards (and therefore forward) on the near side for RHD. When you flip the lever this shifts to the offside, but it really is slight, with a very defined cutoff to the beam. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I didn't bother altering mine for my trip to Greece. I drove with my headlights on all the time and never got flashed once. Back in the game!
