Battery replacement - do I need to reset BMS |
|
Hi all.
I'm getting a lot of low battery warnings and believe the car is still on its original one from 6+ yrs ago, so I've ordered a new Exide AGM one. That's basically the same as the original (even the same brand, though slightly higher capacity - 95Ah vs 90Ah original).
I'll charge it up fully before I fit it.
As far as I can tell from previous posts, I don't need to worry about losing settings, radio codes etc but I'm unsure whether the BMS needs resetting if the new battery is v. similar to the old one. If it does need to be reset, will the car run while I try to find someone who can do it?
Cheers,

I went from an old non-AGM (wet cell) to a new one of the same type. I didn't reset the BMS and nothing bad happened. This was last winter, it's been fine.
I would have maybe been more concerned if I'd changed battery type. I did ask on here at the time but didn't really get anywhere. D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Thanks both.
Grzesiul, were you suggesting that both of us should reset the BMS? I've not got an IIDTool so might have to try to track someone down in my area with one, if necessary. MY2012 D4 HSE in Siberian Silver, 1967 MGB
