Battery Removal and Charging - Any issues?
Hi all,
much like many, the Disco is sitting very idle at the moment and thought it would be good to get the battery out of the car and put it on trickle charge. I realise that I have never taken it out before so I have a few questions:
1) want to take the battery out, but want to keep the car locked - The car is on the street and I have no garage. Is this possible? My initial effort by locking the car, then using the manual key opener set the alarm off... Bit of catch 22 to get the bonnet open, the battery out and keep the car locked.
2) Does the car need to be put in the lowered mode before I remove the battery....or any other mode for that matter?
3) once the battery is out for a period of time and then put back in, is there anything that needs to be reset on the car or a process that i need to go through to "re-initialise"...apart from setting the time?
Anything else I have not asked but should have???
thanks all.

You can use the passenger door lock to secure the car
2) Does the car need to be put in the lowered mode?
Don't think you need to worry about that
3) once the battery is out for a period of time
No - just connect positive first

Only if you are short as it helps heft it out/in.

Reason you should connect and tighten the positive first is so when you fit and tighten the negative clamp if you accidentally touch the body with the spanner it won't spark. In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.
