Battery fitment d3 2005

Hi
Just purchased after reading many forum post suggesting this is the battery of all batteries to buy for the D3
(EA1000 Exide Premium Car Battery 017TE1 £81.99 P&P TOTAL £90.88 from Tanya batteries at the great price) including delivery thought you might like to know.
I had a problem fitting it as it is to wide to be able to attach the locking legs on the cross bar ,the battery fits in perfect but as said the holes are not visible in the battery tray.
Has anyone else come across this .
My car although registered 05 was one of the first d3 and was made in 04 and after reading several discussions on various issues and the location of various wires, fuses and fbh issues my disco has seemed to be slightly different, for instant the battery seems to big for the tray (width not length) the exterior temperature sensor was easy to access and test just needed to remove the front grill.and the fbh problems and proposed fixes do not seem to work or repair the fbh.
I was just wondering how early the car was pulled off the production line and if it is totally original or made up of various D3 parts left over after a Friday night shift.

Lastly having very recently joined D3 I have found it so useful and friendly and I would like to thank you all for that.

The battery tray is very unlikely to be different as anything built for launch and early production in 2004 was a 2005 MY vehicle.
Are there any bits clipped to the base of the battery that need removing ?
I found I had to carefully locate a new Exide from Tayna in my 2005MY D3 to get it to line up with the fixing holes. By the way Tayna replaced mine without any problems, after 3 years when it failed.

Well I have to admit and you may be doing the same thing as i did.
I never had the battery sat in properly Whistle
I left it as was in situ for a couple of days and read more about battery advice and the purchased battery was what most people recommended so I thought it must fit.
I am 6ft and still struggled to get the dam thing in so I went back out and stood on a block of wood and then could see that the battery was not sat down properly, without disconnecting it I pushed it over towards the drivers side and it popped in position then I could fit the holding bracket felt such a twxxxt Embarassed Embarassed
The battery seems to settle quite comfortable on what's seems to been a small ridge that runs along the inside of the battery housing and then sits upright for some reason.
I drove around for a couple of days covering 300 miles before checking again as described above and the battery did not move so it seemed quite safe.
So I politely suggest you check what's I have outlined above and stand on something so as to get a better view and I hope this sorts it.

I will do, thank you. I managed to get one bracket to fit but not the second one. I’ll get something to stand on and have a wiggle 👍

I discovered that about the different length bolt too!

I’ll just carry on and order mine Smile
