Hi Stuart thank you so much I just woke up up and I just clicked on the link to see the fuse box I couldn't ask for more that's exactly what I needed to know thank you so much.
Thanks for the advice reguarding the pneumonia,I leave the window open all night which really helps.
As reguarding the tools I have one or two lying around that will suffice .
I also have downloaded the excellent parasitic drain procedure as described by Robbie.
Still too tired to do any serious work yet but will get it done.
Thanks again

Have you considered that the battery terminal are on the wrong side of the battery, meaning it has had a different battery installed. Embarassed

Globetrotter ... are you saying the terminals would be nearer the wing ? had thought that but would still be awkward removing the cable and not been outside to look at my car, albeit a D4, for a few days.

regarding the pneumonia. I've just had a bout of pleurisy due to a flare of my "NHS hobby" (Wegener's granulomatosis) and had a dose of IV methylprednisolone yesterday. it was like hitting the off-switch for the pain. perhaps you should ask of it's appropriate in your case ?

Just found some pics of the earth terminal on mine , it was when I retrofitted some heated windscreen jets

Have since fitted a new larger battery and still able to get the Earth terminal off

Think ur right hardware ref the loom as on mine for some reason looks higher allowing the terminal to come off, also battery posts on the same side as per OP pics

Hardwear/Dean

Ain't no pain dude just no air lol but thanks anyway.
God knows what's wrong with your health couldn't say the words let alone understand what it is will have to Google it later.

Globetrotter

Having earth nearer the wing wouldn't help as still no room and as the battery is new I would have to purchase one with the terminals the other way round.(opposite sides)
I still say something has been altered around the battery tray area as I am sure it was never designed to be that difficult to replace a battery, perhaps the batteries have just have just got longer ,I don't know.
To cap it all
I would have never needed to purchase a new battery if I had been told before hand that there was a parasitic drain on the truck, but as I just bought the car I assumed it was sold with a dud battery, and anyway as it turns out it was a new battery all ready on it
So I now have a spare new battery sat in the shed.

Hiya

Just a thought , I sometimes don’t use mine for over a month and recharge it via the 12s socket using a CTEK

therefore if u wasn’t doing that at least it would keep ur battery topped up and take the worry away of having a flat battery allowing u to concentrate getting back on ur feet

Hope u didn’t mind me suggesting that

Also I’ve fitted a bigger battery , a 019 over the standard 017 and still have no issue removing the Earth terminal

Sounds daft I wonder if ur battery is pushed up far enough against the stop at the front of the battery tray

Know it’s abit difficult at the moment with ur health

Hope it may help in a small way

Just bought a ctek and have left the battery on charge untill it reached the green so as to keep battery up and ready been like this for the days now but it's a bit awkward as the cable need to run out the shed along the fence and more so its not handy leaving it connected.
Removed it yesterday and the battery just was just over 13v and the same this morning 12.85v (was disconnected overnight) shows battery is ok though.
I see in your pictures you have so much more room than in mine to access the terminal ,and as for moving the battery forward I cannot as there is a hard plastic built in stop in the way.
Anyway started the car today a friend took me for a run about and all is good,
Also found there is a drain of 1.5 amp by robbies test instructions so when it's warmer we are going to do all the fuses etc to see where it is.
In the meantime I am having the live that runs to the fuse box removed untill well enough to do the above.
Hope i find the drain and sort it as it will obviously save doing the earth lead.
Thank again
Any advice gladly excepted.
Pete

Hiya

Took me a while to find the battery drain but using the guide and also Pete K was a diamond helping me of what the figures meant etc as I went through it bit by bit , when I converted my seats from manual to electric it had a memory module, i bypassed it to get the 3 x second burst but it was that module that caused my drain

So removed the module completely and made up a new loom along with a new seat non memory switch panel , cured the issue

Plenty here to always help when u start looking for it

So at least it’s pushed up to that stop , so looks like that loom at the back needs pushing up out the way,

I always get confused with figures etc, Whistle so wonder if 1.5 amp is 150 Ma

If I remember it should be under 22Ma when in sleep state

Have u got any aftermarket things fitted

Lucky as I’m able to park my landy on the driveway so fitted a socket on the front of the house so easy to plug the ctek in via an extension lead, ctek is in the hallway so can leave it connected all the time if I’m not using the disco

Stay safe and well

Well the battery terminals look different which is interesting.

I think I slightly angled mine, similar to GS to avoid rubbing

Hi Pete

Hope all is well Thumbs Up

That’s an interesting point, wonder if the terminal has changed according to vin ??

Maybe just turning the terminal makes all the difference for removal, but indeed twisted it so wasn’t rubbing on the loom and found it made life a lot easier using a plastic trim removal tool underneath the terminal to lift it off the battery post
